With the very first play of the big game he took the ball to the house and then his dumb teamates injured his foot. Had he played the game, especially since he got off to such a good start I'm sure he would have done well. That in turn would have started so much talk about him and the draft. If he had done well (i.e. 7 catches 100 yds 1TD) he could have been a huge hit come draft day. We just got lucky (so to speak) that he didn't play that chamionship game. I truly believe that he could have gone higher thatn the #9 pick if he went out with a big game on the biggest stage. Look what it did for Vince Young.

That actually makes some sense. My fellow local Dolphins fans were talking about that same thing around draft day.

Yeah you actually make a pretty good point. I'm not sure though that he would have went any higher just due to need for the teams that drafted above us. It could have though make our pick not look so desperate. I personally was not happy when we made that pick draft day. Then I seen that we got Beck and herd a lot of people talking about the scouts having Quinn and Beck pretty much the same. I think when it comes down to it now we did a great job on draft day. We got a speedy reciever that is going to demand double coverage just due to his speed and we probably got the smartest QB since maybe Peyton coming out of the draft. I really cant wait to see how this turns out just to show all the people that said we made a bad choice that we actaully did a great job. Either way Wayne must have been happy, we just re-signed Muller

I dunno, the way that Troy Smith played in that game, I'm not sure it would have mattered much. He still would have had to get Ginn the ball. Troy couldn't get out of his own way that game.

part of that could be contributed to Ginn not being on the field... the gators had no one they needed to double cover (anthony gonzalez )... with Ginn there it could have been a different game... but its all just speculation at this point...

also if Ginn would not have been hurt, he would have actually ran at the pro day and/or combine and im sure he would have blazed something crazy that would have had a team above us possibly picking him (minny)

I just hope the Miami fans fans treat Ted Ginn with respect.
He is one of the nicest, most humble athletes you would ever want to meet.
He is a clone of Marvin Harrison except with world class speed.

Joey Galloway is regarded as the fastest player in the NFL and Ginn beat him easily running 100 yard dash in Columbus last summer.

It is always hard to play the woulda coulda shoulda game, but I think Phinphan is at least partially right. OSU's o-line was absolutely manhandled in that game by Florida's front seven. Troy Smith was a human pinatta. I was at the game and let me tell you I don't know if there were that many passing plays where he didn't get hit whether he got it off or not. Ginn might have had to return some more kicks to get much of a chance to make a difference the way the game went.

I've argued this point for a long time.

We are VERY lucky he didn't have 400 total yards in that game.

Michael Vick (assuming he serves no prison sentence) would be throwing to him this season.

I agree. Also, his injury was scaring teams into thinking it was something that would keep him out for awhile. As we now know, his injury is healed and he is already out there practicing. If he had played in all of the NC game and wasn't injured that he coulnd't go to the combine, he was probably a top 5 pick.

Yeah, I think we had a top notch draft class this year. Ginn will be a special, impact, game changing player for us. The more I research Beck the more I liked about him. Things will be exciting in Miami this year and many to come.

I understand what you are saying but "what if" thinking can be very slippery, I mean what if that QB from Notre Dame(what's his name?) had been available at the 9 spot? The fact is, Ted Ginn did get hurt and it was a type of injury that in the past has made some fast people not so fast anymore. Couple that with a supposed lack of refinement concerning his receiving skills and it is logical that his stock would drop. Only the future will tell whether or not the pick was the right one.

And J. Russell, before their bowl game no one said anything about him being the top QB in the draft and he had a good game against a real weak defense so he was vaulted into the top spot...

good points,,,,my beef is that tedd ginn was a ratings maker, wherever i was i would get to a tv to watch osu just to see tedd ginn make plays,,nobody in college football had that lure,,the man was hyped bigtime and all he did was take one to the house on the biggest stage,,,,,

Now,,he's just a kick returner with a bad foot,,,,whatever,,most people in the media don't have a clue.

I'am just glad he's on our team.the kid is gonna be a playmaker,,,BIG TIME
