Jimmy Johnson and his craptastic first round picks. Even with his brilliance in mid rounders, he totally whiffed on the first round and it's continued through every coaching staff.

yatil green, John Avery, Jason Allen, Ted ginn, Jamal fletcher, Jared odrick, dion jorda , 4 years of no first pick....that's 11 years of flat out bust or no pick, 2 for a rb that got himself suspended and we ran into a brick wall.

Then em there's jake long and Ronnie brown who had injury shortened careers but were good when healthy, vontea Davis who philbin couldn't coach and overrated pouncey.

Veron carey was solid at RT.

Youve got another potential bust with tannehill. This is prob the year to determine that.

Bad first rounders set teams back years especially at high profile positions. Parker and tunsel are good starts but unproven but you can't draft first round bust after bust and expect to be good.

You have to hit on 1-3 and we havent hit on much since 2008...

To be honest, you have to go back further. Shula was a great coach but he had no business in the personnel department. A lot of his picks started the demise and we have used poor judgement in who we give the keys to the kingdom to since.

Yes....Jimmy even missed on Ray Lewis to draft Daryl Gardener.

When this team ruled football we had a shrewd team builder named Joe Thomas....assisted by Bobby Bearhard who made smart trades and drafted great players.

That is what is missing. Shula made some good picks and a lot of bad ones...which he would cover up with coaching....but this team was never a champion again.

I think we need to give Adam Gase time to see what he can do...if he is as smart as Peyton Manning and others say he is....maybe he'll get it right.

Even when Jimmy Johnson missed in the first round, he would find gems later. I think we were good with Jimmy, just not great. We went to the playoffs year after year, what most fans wouldn't give for that now.

Jimmy at least found some studs later in the draft.

Our cornerstone defensive players for the late 90's early 2000's.

Taylor, Thomas, Surtain and Madison.

But yea, missing on 1st round picks definitely hurt. Especially when they are top 10 picks. (ala Dion Jordan)

So bad drafting is why we stink? I don't mean to be snarky, but I thought that was kind of obvious.
