The Dolphins are definitely in the rebuilding mode because a team doesn't go from 1-15 to the playoffs in a season, much less two. It will take at least 2-3 years of solid drafting, a few key free agent signings and the hope that a few of your key players improve to probowl status.

Jason Taylor is definitely the best player the Dolphins have on the roster and by far probably the most loved. However, he has two maybe three good years left in those legs and it is now time for the Fins to reap their final benefits out of him. If a team is willing to give the Dolphins a first round pick for Taylor or even a second and fourth and fifth I would make that trade in an instant.

Miami already has its left tackle of the future and with another first round pick can get a quarterback, outside linebacker/edge rusher, cornerback and a tightend or guard by the end of the third round. That is five potential starters in the first three rounds and the ability to rebuild even faster.

It will be hard watching the Dolphins without seeing JT coming around for a sack. However, he will have a chance to go a better team and compete for a championship and the Dolphins will have a chance to pick one or two players who will be around for the next 5-10 years and be in their prime when the Dolphins are ready to compete on a yearly basis.

Not be a jerk or anything, and you are right! But, the Captain Obvious title has been bequeathed upon you. That said I 100% agree.:)

No way we trade 2006 defensive MVP and 2007 NFL man of the year, team captain for a 2nd round pick.

By your own admission Taylor isnt guaranteed to play more than a couple more years why would a team give up a 1st rounder?

He's worth more to keep than trade for a 2nd round pick who may or may not pan out and last 2-years themselves.

I know, let's trade Jason and both our 2nd round picks to New England and draft someone with the 7th pick overall :hi5:

Then Jason can make the super bowl after a 18 sack season (10 of them on Beck :) )

Boy...FatKirstyAlley sure does get snarky when the Twinkies run low...

;)

other than helping train up Long, why? he's not gonna be able to lift us to contender level on his own.

.....and no foolish GM is gonna give away the value Miami wants for a player who will play maybe 2 more years.

Miami isnt 1 player away from contender level anyway.

If they are vying for a superbowl I think theyd give it up.. JT is a player that could push a team over that 1 or 2 game barrier to get to a superbowl... IMO of course they would give it up. If the pick is all that stands in their way, they would be stupid to give it up..

Don't be so sure. What does San Diego need with the 27th pick relative to the value on the board? Think they might want Jt and Merriman harassing Tom Brady for two years as they try and break through to the Super Bowl? The fact is, the closer you are to the Super Bowl the less valuable those late draft picks become. Look at NE last year. They cut I think 6 of 8 draft picks. Just didn't have the roster space or the patience for rookies.

I love having JT on the Fins. Always have.
But the time has finally come to find our next JT.

He has served us well.

Agreed. If it doesn't end this weekend on fairly good terms, it will only end later on worse terms. Nobody wants that.

@FKA. Just pull off a finger. I'm sure the fat content is the same.

Agreed. It is nice to see people being OK with it. Six months ago you would get fried for these comments. I always ask myself questions like:

Are some of these people really NFL fans of good football or just Dolphin fans. I think you need to be both.

Are some people just fans of players or do they really want to do what it takes to make the Dolphins great.

I like what is going on TONS
