Why Wasn't Will Allen Covering Moss?

Everytime i saw moss burn us for a TD it was against Jason Allen & Andre Goodman. Was he on welker? Why couldnt we do what every other team does and just double him?
 
Allowing any one single player on the Dolphins team to guard Moss on a Fade/Jump ball in the endzone is just plain bad management. Let alone a guy that has been passed around positions more than Bret Farve throws INT's...is just plain crazy.

I can see it now...

JA: "Coach I cannot guard Moss 1 on 1 in the Endzone!!!"
Coach: "Sure you can...if you cannot I will be looking for a new job shorty..."
JA: "Hey coach give me a chance to buy your house before you put it on the market!"

NEVER should a team play 1 on 1 vs. MOSS in the ENDZONE...unless your name is Namdi or Champ, you pretty much have no chance with an average throw vs. Moss.

I think JA has enough houses to explain ownership of. How many do you think he needs. :sidelol:

thats why he would be one of the best number 2 cb's in the league opp of a cb with some size.
All and all I dont think Allen did as bad as everyone else on here does.
When Moss is motivated NO ONE can cover the guy one on one Not Champ Not Asaghusdhudh no one.
 
i thought that was a head scratcher too. I know Jason is just about as fast as Will, he's taller, and probably has a better vert jump... but he's not a better corner... he was caught out of position too often and his size can't compensate for that. I just don't see what Jason has done at CB to warrant covering Moss alone all day, just cuz he's more "physically" capable ?

Anyway... i knew this would happen... i even picked up Cassel and started him in my FF league... and I'm in 2nd place !

We just don't have the personel to combat that kind of attack... This is the same secondary from the past 3 years... and we lost Lehan for the year, who should be our #2 cb.

Actually champ always shuts down moss and since asagmua is just as good as champ i bet he can cover him 1 on 1 too.

I thought the same thing during the game but I just figured it was because Jason Allen is the tallest and probably the most athletic defensive back that we have so they were using size matchups.
 
i think they wanted to match will allen with the equally quick wes welker, and hoped cassell would struggle to connect deep down the field with moss, which cassell has had a hard time doing the last couple of weeks.

obviously the gamble didnt pay off
 
one thing that really ticked me off was we didnt bump Moss all day. When a corner of Allen's stature cant cover Moss one on one, you need to disrupt something, and bumping him at the line was something we definately should have been doing instead of letting him get off the line free

it was only cause Welker would breath stank breathe on Allen when Allen lined up in front of him, thus backing Allen off 10 yards... and then when Allen went on for the coverage, Welker's body stench was so bad Allen just fell to the ground, instead of it sending Allen to IR for the rest of the season
 
Jason Allen is our most physical corner, according to the coaching staff. The only real way to discourage Moss is to bump him off the line. The idea makes sense, but the execution was questionable.
