ok rebuilding a team 101, here is how to build a team step by step, then you will understand why we are bad.

step1-coach/staff-besides malrkey they have done a good job-grade-B

step2-o-line-saban has yet to address the o-line no top draft picks no top free agents just cheep fillins, toledo and alabi are just projects- F

step3-D-line-saban has done a decent job here with drafting roth, vickerson, wright, evans, wright, although these guys have not produced they are young and apart of the rebuilding process-B

step4-franchise QB-zero, saban has not spent 1 pick even a late pick on a young qb, face it cpepp is 30 and has a blown up knee and joey is decent but not a franchise qb, i love brown but we could have moved up to #1 and got alex smith let him sit a year behind gus or joey and picked up a back anytime, backs are a dime a dozen, hell we could have had maroney! D

step5-special teams- saban did a good job finding jones and our snapper and you dont draft kickers and punters that often, so i give saban a B

step6-corners-this is were saban screwd up he thinks he can change these average players into stars, we drafted daniels late he is decent and will allen is above average. C

step7-running backs- ronnie is a beast, we need a scat back on 3rd downs B

step8-LB'S- crowder is a stud but thats all we have invested in a young guy and we stole crowder in the 3rd because of his knees D

step9-wr's- we have good wr's and i like the hagan p/u B

step10-safetys- jason allen- could turn out good, but never draft a S in the 1st round that is not a top priority when rebuilding. C

I know saban has only had 2 drafts with limited picks but he is skipping steps and we are paying for it. we should have 1 young qb to develop a 1st round olineman and 1 or 2 corners learning his hard system. but no we have roth who may be good one day but we dont need him, jason allen who even if he was good would be a safety! we could have had marcus mcneil or a young qb
sabans 1st draft was good the 06 draft was not good, even if the players turn out to be ok, start in the trenches and work your way out! so saban has done a good job with steps 3,7,9,10 you cant skip steps or you will have to go back to the start!

We spent a late round draft pick on Lemon if I am correct. He might not turn out, but we did do it.

We got Lemon from the Chargers.

I feel that our best move would have been to trade up in this years draft to either take the best safety in the draft or take a OL. However we took a questionable player above his draft value in place of many players that were taken later and were more needed by Miami. AKA, Nick Mangold.

Right but for the record, we sent them a late round pick (and feeley:lol: )
So the point is, we used a late round pick and got a young QB w/ potential.

Not that it will matter in the grand scheme of things because can anyone imagine a name like Cleo Lemon winning a super bowl? Hey who knows?
