Matt Bryant made a 62 yard game winning feild goal to win against the eagle and mare cant even hit a 51 yarder to tie against the jests and i bet bryants salary is nowhere near mares.we need a clutch kicker do u agree?

He is decent, but I can't remember many times in the past 3 years I could call him "clutch". That's the best quality you want in a kicker.

He has stuck around because coaches love him with his kickoffs. He is routinely one of the best with touchbacks each year. He also is excellent with onside kicks.

I don't think these justify keeping him. He continually misses clutch kicks and is frankly scared of the dirt. EVERY friggen year we see him miss kicks because he has problems in the dirt. I don't see other kickers with this issue and the problem will not go away unless the Marlins leave Miami. He is in the bottom third of the league as far as kickers and we can get the same or better for far less.

No doubt...he has to be makin' way too much $$$ for his production. Give Edinger a shot...even a scrub's history is as good as Mare's has been lately and for a lot less. We're gonna need any extra cash we can get for free agency next year.

Well, if he struggles the rest of the season . . . u have to consider other options . . . but I'm not gonna sit up here and say we should "cut" Mare less than half way thru the season because he has missed some 50 yarders. He was "clutch" when he nailed the 47 yarder . . . nobody told the absent minded special teams unit to have a delay of game call and send it back 5 yards, and he barely missed that one also. He had a tuff game at New England, but that field was hell. He missed a 55 yarder against Buffalo . . . I mean jeez people . . . he isn't Mr. consistent anymore but he is still very servicable, consistently the best in touchbacks and one of the best at the onsides kick. The whole team has struggled and he is no exception.

Please stop bringing up the Matt Bryant field goal in comparison . . . it was a fantastic kick, but he is also 1 of 4 from the 40-49 yard range while Lindo is 4 of 5 (should be 5 of 6). . . I just find it funny how yall conviently leave off stats like that to trash a kicker and compare him to a guy who is no where near as good as him.

So he makes 2 million a year, he earned that contract (remember Denver Monday Night), and tho he has fell off a bit, he hasn't been terrible at all . . . we have put him in some tuff spots, always asking him to save are inept offense . . . he constantly gets pressure kicks and its just not fair, yes its his job, but just like the defense is always holding up for this offense, Olindo is always trying to finish off drives instead of the offense doing it, Its been like this for years now.

Finally who u gonna bring in? Edinger . . . please he is so inconsistent with his funny style of kicking . . . sometimes he can look amazing and then he'll miss easy ones left and right. Yes we have to start looking for a future replacement, but Olindo is easily better than anybody else on the market and with his touchbacks thrown in to the mix, I'm not sweating here thinking he deserves less money, bigger cap issues and position upgrades are needed before him.

Touchbacks are great if you're trying to say our special teams tackling sucks. I would rather a guy who is more consistent with FGs. Points are money in this league.

He'd make a good scapegoat! Overpriced, so-so performance. It's a safe cut to send a message. B ut the message is... if saban will cut Mare he'll cut anybody? :(

The more and more I think of this thread, the funnier I think some FinFans are. U want a kicker that is more clutch than Mare? Where u gonna find that? Not in Free Agency . . . . not in the draft, Mare has proven to be clutch . . . if we cut him . . . what are we going to accomplish except go BACKWARDS at that position. We are cutting a guy who is 10 of 12 from under 50 yards with his 2 misses being on a crap field in New England. Maybe he has missed some important kicks this year, but its been that kind of year . . .u don't cut someone when u don't have a comparable/better guy available.

He's only hitting 76% of his FG's in the last 5 years which is very low by today's standards. He's also 12-16 or 75% in game winning kick scenario's in his career. Not exactly steller. I'm all for replacing him next year BUT I would not want to get a kicker that can't kick off and take up a roster spot with another guy that just kicks off.

Yea the reason we are 1-6 or whatever we are is because of the kicker. He must have missed like 4 of them against the packers because we still lost by 11. At this point in the season we might as well keep him fro his kickoff ability because field goals will be the least of our concerns.

Mare has steadily gotten worse in the past 3 seasons IMO.... With the year pretty much in the bag already, let him ride it out and replace him first thing this offseason....
