Now that we have signed 2008 CFL Defensive Player of the Year to be groomed behind 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nominee Joey Porter to a 4 year $4.9mil contract, we can be safe to say that Parcells has plans for Cam Wake at OLB.
In fact I wouldn't be surprised that the athletic freak competes with Matt Roth for the OLB spot opposite Joey Porter in 2009.
We can also feel safe to say that we will be targeting another position other than OLB with our 1st round pick at #25.
So, my idea is that being that NT Raji should be long gone by the time we pick, we can forget about upgrading NT depth with our 1st round pick. But shouldn't Paul SOliai have some competition as Ferguson's backup/heir? Of course he does.
THis is why I think that ARI Cards hold the cards to some of MIA's biggest needs: NT and WR.
Instead of using the #25 pick on a short Ginn Jr clone, Percy Harvin...and using a later pick on a NT that shouldn't have anymore upside than Paul Soliai...
...why not send that #25 pick, the 4th round pick it would cost to sign NT Gabe Watson who is a RFA for ARI, and say a 2010 second day pick....for #1 WR AQuan BOldin and backup/young NT Gabe Watson?
Watson has starting experience and Boldin is not happy in ARI. WOuld fill two BIG time needs we have and Boldin would be better than selecting another rookie WR in Percy Harvin and Watson should be better than any NT prospect we'd have available to select by the time we pick. And not to mention we need to use our two 2nd rounders on LB and DB depth.
Hmm? Sounds like an idea Parcells should entertain or at least think about...:D
