I know Tunsil is taking over at LT, and that Albert does not want to move to guard. However, Albert is still a serviceable player (when healthy) as a tackle. It has been shown year after year how valuable a serviceable 3rd tackle can be, given the injury risks of the position. It has also been shown how important the position is for our team. Now, let's say he won't take a pay cut for us. Ok, but we are still pretty significantly under the cap. Why wouldn't we just keep him as some (expensive) insurance at one of the most crucial positions? This, of course, is given that he would accept a backup role.

the money he is owed can now be used on a FA Guard or 2

Because have skills have diminished and you are bettEric off rolling the dice on younger cheaper options that provide you financial access to other options/areas of need

Do you really want to pay a serviceable 3rd tackle $10 million a year?

2017 seemed to have been his last year in Miami as it was. Tunsil is the LT of the future and without him the situation would be totally different.

This. We can't tie up that cap hit as mere insurance.

If he stays, he starts.

If we're going to Tunsil @ LT, we need his cap space to sign (another) guard.

$10 mil for a player who will PROBABLY play 8 games isn't worth it imo

he would have to take a massive pay cut which he will probably get a bit more on the open market, and he would have to be a back up because he is too injury prone to start and those are probably options he won't entertain

Letting Albert go is actually the fins throwing a bone to him.
He will get one more solid paycheck as a tackle.
We have to move on and sitting him here as a guard or backup tackle only erodes his value.

Problem with trading him is teams already know we plan on releasing him if we can't find a trade partner. Why give up anything when he'll be available to work out as an UFA? I was hoping some team with a porous O-Line, like Seattle, would give him a chance...but his current contract, combined with his age and injury history, is probably not a good deal for most other teams.
