We've heard everyone here on why they think we'll suck, blah blah but lets take a thread and talk about our good points and why we could be successful...

- first team defense has been dominant... our front line will be a force to be reckoned with, traylor is his usual run stuffing unstoppable force in there, taylor seems quicker than ever, carter is a beast and we'll well prepared for the 3-4 4-3 switching with our front 4... you have carter, traylor holliday, and taylor and it looks like a 4-3 front, but on the snap taylor drops back and its a 3-4 look with maybe the strongside LB on the otherside rushing as the 4th rusher, thats some siht that will definately cause some confusion...

- our offensive philosophy... i really feel that the preseason was used to guage the passing game and determine a QB... we only rushed 19 times per game, thats a very low number, considering even last year with no rushing game we rushed about 25 times a game... i think come sunday we'll see a lot more focus on the running game which will open up the passing game... our first team oline is now established and getting solid practice time without shuffling around which will help... i expect heavy doses of ronnie and sammy come the denver game, and with any little success will help us open up the deep ball...

- the players seem to have confidence in frerotte... he does have a swagger to him like he thinks hes the greatest player of all time, though we know hes not, its good to have that confidence... now as we saw all preseason he would miss on a lot of the deeper passes, but with omre practice with the recievers and as their timing and chemistry develops you know those passes will eventually start connecting...

- gameplanning... we have a new staff, but on paper possibly one of the better staffs in the league, most of the preseason has been the shells of our offense and defense and no gameplanning... now will be the chance for our high paid staff to earn their money, and i expect them too... i envision great defensive gameplanning to stop any opponents strenghts and i see linehan opening up his playbook and we'll pull out some plays that will bring much success...

im still optimistic, how ya'll feel??

Good post I'm very much optimistic about this year. Personally I dont think the preseason matters at all.

Some things I would add to your post.

We have the best core of WR that we have ever had. We have the best backfield that we have ever had. Put that together with an offense that we are going to be running I think we will be pretty dangerous. I think this team will look a lot like the team that ran their first series against Tampa.

Our D this year I think is going to be really fun to watch. I think we are going to blitz from everywhere. We are going to keep teams really off balance with our blitzing. We have a VERY solid group of LB with Spregan, Crowder, Thomas, and Seau. We have BEEF on the D line with Traylor.

I personally cant wait for this year to start. Even if we dont win I still think it will be a very productive year. Once everybody is really good with the system we are running here we will be very dangerous.

i'm optimistic because i know we are going to have another great pick in next years draft....haha i kid i kid

no seriously, i'm excited to see change, we have some new talent on defense and a whole new philosophy on that side of the ball too, i can't wait to see how 99 looks in the 3-4 - i also think our dline is much improved over last year

and obviously i'm excited about the running situation, last year Minor and Morris were at the top of our depth chart after week 4 - now it's Ricky and Ronnie - big difference
throw in a healthy David Boston, and arguably the best o-line coach and offensive coordinator, then there is plenty to be optimistic about

Because it's football season and I love the Dolphins ;)

YEA THAT BABY!!!... Also Im just so excited to see a new philosophy behind this team.. The Arial attack.. the 3-4... man its like watching a different team!

Out with old.. In with the new!

Because we have a top-tier Quarterback! Hmm. Hmm? Never mind.

Im extremely excited about this year.....

Think about it...when was the last time anyone saw a 4-12 team stacked with so much talent.

The single biggest reason everyone os overlooking us is the QB situation. Gus is starting and could prove to be very good. He does have the arm to take advantage of the deep passing game. He does have veteran smarts.

Hopefully the other NFL teams will look at our preseason games and under estimate us. In fact..Ill go so far as to say that was what Saban is hoping for. He'll work to give us every edge we can. By the time people start to respect us it will be too late. If we can get on a roll and win two or three in a row...the confidence we will have built will be huge.

I am also still very optimistic. Many people think that Linehan is all about being a passhappy Culpepper to Moss score-on-every play offense, and they fail to see how we will accomplish that. They're quite wrong there, as Linehan is actually quite balanced... and Minny even lead the league in rushing one year (and that's WITH Culpepper and Moss).

I think that the coaching staff spent the offseason game planning strictly to put players in situations that they wanted to evaluate them in. I think zero effort was put into gameplanning to win a game. I also believe that we had an emphasis on the passing game during the preaseason to help determine our starting QB.

Honestly, I'm not expecting too much from our passing game... but I expect that they will do just enough to keep defenses honest, move the ball down the field, and open up some room to run for our running game. I honestly think that our running game is going to be brutal. We've only seen glimpses of Ronnie so far, and honestly I like what I see. Also, you have to remember that we're going to get Ricky back for our 5th game.

Ricky really is the x-factor. People doubted that he would be committed, and he has shown that he has been. People doubted that he would still have the same mental sharpness he did before his retirement. I'd say he's proven that to also be false. Now we're going to get a Ricky who looked sharp in pre-season, and who has had a month to work on his biggest weakness since comming back... his strength.

I expect big things from Ricky... I expect big things from Ronnie. I expect HUGE things from our running game.

People are also forgetting that we've yet to see our biggest upgrade in the offseason on the field. It's not Ronnie, Crowder, Daniels, Traylor, Carter... no player we got this offseason in fact. It's the coaching staff. As of yet, they've been in evaluation mode... now they're in win mode. I truely and honestly believe that they are our biggest upgrade of all, and we haven't even seen them do their stuff.

Our defense has looked very, very sharp in the preseason, and you have to salivate when you realize that we probably haven't even shown 5% of the scheme we will use during the season. Saban just isn't the sort to give people free info about what he's doing.

People also forget that not too long ago, we were able to put up 10-11 win seasons without a reliable passing game. We relied on our strong running game, and dominant defense. I expect us to have no less this season. People try to equate this year to last year, saying that we still have no QB. Again, I point to how effective we were able to be with no QB, and a vastly inferior coaching staff. Last year, the reason we did so poorly is that in addition to the usual lack of a passing game, we also had no running game. We also suffered greatly due to injury on defense.. so in essence we had NO solid or reliable aspect of the game, save for perhaps the special teams.

That will change this season.

^yup!

im still very optimistic... and i think our Oline will play fine, now that the line is set, houck can really get them gelling as a unit and our running game will be the focus of our offense, im guessing about 30 carries a game for our running backs, maybe more once ricky is back... and that'll open up some deep balls for chambers, booker, boston and co...

woooooooo cant wait till sunday, the question is should i wear the chambers, ronnie, or boston jersey? hmmmm

I'd say go with the Ronnie.. give the rook some support for his first ever NFL game :w00t:

I think there are many reasons for optimism. I truly believe by the third or fourth game the o-line will gel and become solid, maybe not spectacular but at least solid. With great running backs that will be enough. The defense is out standing and will only get better as players get more used to the scheme. In seasons past the dolphins have experienced some late season swoons. I think that will change beginning this year and you will see a surge at the end of the year as both offense and defense come together.

^^ if you wanna counter some of my points go ahead... but whats the purpose of posting that?

and yeah i think i'll go with the ronnie... i wanna get a crowder soon too, but we'll start the season with some ronnie, my girlfriend will be wearing her chambers anyway
