Please tell me why most mocks have us takeing okoye when we have Holiday, traylor,Mwright,Rwright, wilkinson and vickerson i see far more pressing needs than DT sorry to all the okoye fans but we need to address the QB or OT position period.

dude if your going to listen to the so called experts your in trouble,,,no one knows but the experts on this site and a lot of inside info have us pointed in the direction of tedd ginn, levi brown,,,going after brady quinn or trading down if none of those things happen

Okoye is a potential star in the league, that is why.

Traylor is 37 years old, Holliday is in his 30s, Manny Wright is overweight, Rod Wright is coming off a pretty serious injury, Wilkinson is likely retired and Vickerson is so bad he is in NFLE right now. The only real DT that might have a solid future is one that you failed to mention in Fred Evans.

I am not an Okoye fan, and would prefer Quinn or Levi Brown over him, but the fact remains, Okoye would not be a bad choice.

I agree there may be beeter needs, but the defense starts with stopping the run up the middle.

Okoye is exciting, imagine having a guy with the ability to be a pro bowler and the age to have a few years to learn. With the talent we have on our front seven right now, he'd be learning new things every minute, he could be a pro bowler by his third season (22 years old) and become a staple of this defense for another decade. I think if we drafted him no one would regret it, because he'd be in the league and playing successfully for a long, long time.
There's no way I can predict his stats or even that he won't be a bust, but I'm pretty convinced he'll be great because he's extremely smart (fifteen year old college student), has plenty of years left, and despite his age has proven to be very mature. He's very willing to learn and listen from those around him who know better, if Quinn's not there I hope we get Okoye.

Because you have to take BPA even if that is not your greatest need. Besides, Wright, Wright and Evans haven't really proven much and then there is the age of JT, Holliday, Traylor, et al...

I have seen more mocks having us taking Levi Brown then Okoye.

Teams get into trouble when they start drafting based on need. It's not a strict rule but more of a guiding principle. I agree that we have lots of holes on the roster but DL is also one. Traylor has been great but he is getting on. It will be hard for Holliday to have as good of a year as he did last. Roth has shown potential but he's still not there yet. The rest of the guys on the DL are unproven. Okoye makes a lot of sense at nine because he would probably be the BPA and he fits a need.

yes i agree but this coming year with our linebacking corps thomas, porter and crowder our d-line doesnt have to be the best! just mediocre will be fine i say we work a deal with washington and go get quinn if he is the so-called franchise QB then nows the time! trade up get quinn, trade for trent green let quinn learn under green if you look at it right its BREES=Rivers all over again and im also not against going after stanton and staying put if levi brown falls to us but we still need to bring in green!!!

Okoye would is an awsome player. i under stand why you all think we dont need him. but first round is why to early to go o-line no matter how much we need it. Qb quinn wont be there and i dont think we could trade up to get him with out loseing way to much. With all our talent in our front 7 with okoye it would crazy

The other teams would have to worry about jason taylor first of all then zach then joey then crowder then roth then okoye then vonnie and the big man him self traylor

lets pray to god that brandon meriweather falls to us in the second round

BPA is Willis if none of the top five rated guys slide. Willis and Landry are better football players than Branch or Okoye(right now).

We do have more pressing needs- QB, Tackle, and CB, but DT is up there too. I'm a huge Amobi Okoye fan. I truly believe this guy is a future pro-bowler. Having a guy like him who could clog up the middle and open up holes for JT and the rest of the crew for probably the next 10 or so years AT LEAST would be such a luxury. I'm sorry, but if Russell, Quinn, Johnson, or Joe Thomas is gone by nine which is almost a sure bet that will happen, I would be upset if we don't draft Okoye.

Agreed..

okoye's ceiling = Warren Sapp

Willis's ceiling = Ray Lewis..

Although Willis is closer to that ceiling.. If I had a choice between Okoye and Willis I'd take Willis.

Explain how Okoye's ceiling is Warren Sapp.

Okoye hasn't even physically matured yet. He has an immense ceiling if he continues to get bigger, stronger and possibly faster.
