Why is the question to ask. Why did Martin do what he did? He did it for a reason, so what is it? That's what this is all about.

It came out in his statement Friday. He wants to play football again, he wants it to be somewhere besides Miami. He didn't say it exactly, but it was clear.

Who knows whether he just wants out because he doesn't fit in, or he didn't like being demoted from LT, but I believe he just wants out of town.

This generation E baby ran to mommy to make it all better, and that's when the insanity blew up. She's now making her son toxic to return to the team, but not at his fault. She's turned teammates, coaches and the owner upside down, as well as pitted fan vs fan to just make her son's return to Miami seem loath-able to everyone. He wants out to go play for his old coach or in Indy with his buddy Luck, or wherever but not in that mean miami locker room of pain.

We are all here confused, pissed, and sad about he dolphins this year. We all expected better, but it was not to be. The reasons before this crap are several. However, Jonathan Martin just wants to break his deal and leave. He wants to be released, and has destroyed what's left of the season to get his way. Recognize it and DO NOT LET HIM go. Let him rot on their roster, unpaid unless he comes to work and do his job. If he wants out, let him negotiate the trade to make it happen where Miami gets value for this waste of a #2 pick.

We are all passionate fans and want the best for this team. We may agree or disagree with the coaches and management decisions and each other, but don't let this Martin deal cloud your hopes for this team.

NO Easy Way out, and Let him rot.

He'll never play in the NFL again but he won't rot. The NFL is going to either pay him a huge settlement to make this go away or will lose the lawsuit. He met with the NFL investigator for 7 hours. They weren't playing bridge. He was detailing a full timeline of harassment by multiple Dolphin players. He has the best sports lawyer money can buy. He will win if it goes to court.

I've seen numerous rants here about Martin's mother. Has she actually said or done anything regarding this situation or is this usual misogyny in which "real men" engage?

On this bulletin board? It's misogyny.

He is probably manic depressive, he knew that he was struggling as an O-lineman having been shuffled from the left to the right and after 18 months of hell, he flipped out. The silly stunt by the teammates was just the straw that broke the camel's back. He's a smart guy and a loner who lost it emotionally, it may have been a breakdown. We know that he has a mental health issue - and Incognito's dad has alluded to Martin being suicidal. The sad thing is that he didn't have the support network within the team to dissipate the problem before it went too far.

You really shouldn't care "why" someone does something. The "why" doesn't change the "what."

if his teammates getting up and leaving the lunch table was what truly put him over the edge, he is not strong minded enough to play on any NFL team, much less function at any job I have ever had......

Where was the misogyny in his comment? "Running to mommy" is considered misogyny!?! Good lord I guess if I say 'chick' thats misogynistic as well? Although real misogyny and misandry exists, Im weary of the pc types who use misogyny as a blanket term for any perceived offense. White knight PC brigade, engage!

his mother is a lawyer with extensive workplace harassment history, what a coincidence! here is the link

I know all about that. My question is did she actually have anything to do with this or is this entirely speculation thereby making all the derision thrown her way a whole lot of bs?

As far as I know, the woman has done nothing. Yet there are a lot of really disgusting things being said about her on this board, and I'm not talking about just the OP's post.

Then thats false accusations and speculation/assumptions. I wouldnt call that misogyny.

To be fair, yes there have been some bad things said about her in her other threads.

We shall see. We know few details, and he is under contract. He wants out. It's that simple. You think the NFL wants one of their franchises dragged thru the mud by one player? We'll see who has the lawyers...

My point is that miami just cannot let the baby go to have him show up somewhere else in '14 with no compensation. I doubt he wants just money, he has that and would have gotten a big second contract if he just did his job.

It ain't just about the money. Maybe in the end Martin overplays his hand and will play no where, but I don't think that's why Martin did this.

On this board having Harvard educated parents makes them somehow lesser than Incogniot'os possible parent with his idiotic rants

The lawsuit money part to me is a dumb arguement because he already makes tons of money and was set up to make more in future

I don't know about the money angle. He grew up with money, he could walk away from football and go back to school and make more money. Martins upbringing is probably quite different from most players in the locker room. I doubt Martin had very much in common with his teammates. My problem is how this whole mess came to light. If the coaching staff truly had no idea, then Martin completely ignored the chain of command and brought everything to light through the media. I would guess Martins parents are all about "Social Justice" and fully intend to use this as a way to "fundamentally transform" NFL locker rooms. In the end, Miami won't be the only team effected by this.
