Everyone loves to hate on the wildcat and call it a "gimmick" or "trick play"

If anything teams should be even more embarrassed when we have success running it on them for a couple of reasons

Think about it, most of the plays the QB is off the field so right there it takes away the option of a pass play, yes i know ronnie brown can throw but thats 1 out of every 50 wildcat plays if that, so right there you are taking away play action also because ronnie brown cant fake handing it off to himself and the defense does not have to respect his arm as much as the QB, because at most it will be a 10-15 yard completion to Fasano so all the secondary should be up in the box and anticipating an obvious run and make it easier for them

when you look at we are basically telling the defense WE ARE RUNNING THE BALL, it doesnt matter if ronnie hands it to ricky or takes it himself cuz 99.9% out of the time it is a run so we are not tricking anyone if anything we are helping them by telling them what were doing unlike a regular formation where there is always the option of a run or pass and "trickery" in play action

Ronnie brown basically told Calvin Pace "Hey im running the ball" and that "clown" couldnt do anything about it so if anything this factor should leave teams and player more embarassed that the wildcat told them what they were doing and still owned them

Just my thoughts....

I do have to say we have some of the best pulling guards in the league so when we counter run with the WC Thomas or Smiley are 1on1 with a LB i will take a guard or a LB anyday when it comes to blocking.

And if you watch the videos you are right we run and nobody can stop it....everybody out there especially in the power formations the 3 back 2 TE sets everyone is just flying off the ball and laying the wood to the defense.....i dont see the saints stopping it...it DEF needs to result in TD's rather than FG's tough

Thank you for that. Perfectly said! Defenders feel validated by talking down about the wildcat.... It's much like chanting "over rated" after a big win... These players don't seem to understand that it doesn't make you look better to degrade what just beat you.

takes two guys to cover ricky outside, which they still have trouble getting to because TE's blocking good and Ronnie just picks the seam and is great at juking even if they fill the hole.

No QB means extra blocker. one on one baby and the defese as a whole loses its stamina and knowledge as it gets more and more successful out of different formations.
