Everyone loves to hate on the wildcat and call it a "gimmick" or "trick play"
If anything teams should be even more embarrassed when we have success running it on them for a couple of reasons
Think about it, most of the plays the QB is off the field so right there it takes away the option of a pass play, yes i know ronnie brown can throw but thats 1 out of every 50 wildcat plays if that, so right there you are taking away play action also because ronnie brown cant fake handing it off to himself and the defense does not have to respect his arm as much as the QB, because at most it will be a 10-15 yard completion to Fasano so all the secondary should be up in the box and anticipating an obvious run and make it easier for them
when you look at we are basically telling the defense WE ARE RUNNING THE BALL, it doesnt matter if ronnie hands it to ricky or takes it himself cuz 99.9% out of the time it is a run so we are not tricking anyone if anything we are helping them by telling them what were doing unlike a regular formation where there is always the option of a run or pass and "trickery" in play action
Ronnie brown basically told Calvin Pace "Hey im running the ball" and that "clown" couldnt do anything about it so if anything this factor should leave teams and player more embarassed that the wildcat told them what they were doing and still owned them
Just my thoughts....
