Wildcat surprise for the Pats ?

Not a fan of the wildcat. but if thats the biggest issue.......

Who ran the wildcat in college....
and
Who was a QUARTERBACK before switching to runningback two years ago....

Daniel Thomas.

I hope the wildcat is dead, but certain puzzle pieces seem to fit.

Daboll used it in cleveland. Albeit because his biggest weapon was Josh Cribbs and he needed ways to get him the ball. But would i be surprised if the wildcat popped up week 1.... not one bit.

I posted this a while ago and it was dismissed quickly. You have a RB that used to play QB, and Daboll who used it the second most in the league (only behind the Dolphins) with Joshua Cribbs last year.

As long as we use it sparingly, and not rely on it, I have no problem unleashing the wildcat a few times a game this season.

Against the Pats is where we saw it born. So I wouldn't mind seeing it again. The whole point is that we have new people calling the plays, and haven't showed our hand yet. The element of surprise is what made it successful in the first place.

I would be surprised to see the wildcat run any time soon also. NOW...if at the end of the day Pryor is a Dolphin, I will rethink that a little bit.

Your point is valid, but consider this: D THOMAS played QB in college. RONNIE didn't.

The Wildcat that N.E./anyone else will see in 2011 will NOT be the MIAMI DOLPHINS' Wildcat of yesteryear...any more than MIAMI's "O" in 2011 will be anything like PARCELLS/HENNING. Even w/o PRYOR, D THOMAS, who doesn't "dance" back there, played QB in college. And I like R BUSH in R WILLIAMS's role EVEN BETTER THAN R WILLIAMS.

The key is to not use the Wildcat at the wrong times. DABOLL's no HENNING, thank God.

If they use it 2 or 3 times and it works then it's something else other teams must worry about.

TIMING is everything

Would you take the reverse out of our offense since it failed last game ? I think not.

Poor timing and execution.

Same thing that killed the wildcat last year.

I think we should install a couple Wildcat plays, but I don't think we need to run it all the time as it becomes a little too predictable. Maybe run it about THREE times a game. I am not sure how well Reggie can throw the ball but he is very fast and could always break one. If we do happen to land Pryor, he would be the perfect guy for the Wildcat formation.....I just don't think we should run it as much as we have in the past.

A wildcat surprise worked against the Patriots once. Nothing works against Bellichick twice, unless you have a super star running your offense like Peyton Manning. The wildcat will always have a special place in my heart for what the Dolphins were able to do with it in 2008 and parts of 2009, but it needs to go away.

It honestly should have gone away the day Chad Henne became the starter. They had a young quarterback with upside, so they ran an offense that forced him to come to the sidelines on random plays, including crunch time. Then we wonder why he didn't progress the way other quarterbacks do...

If a "new look" Wildcat works against a team...ANY team...you keep running it until they show that they can stop it consistently. And if that means running it all day, so be it.

do we really wanna trust a rookie half back with wild cat duties? they dont even trust henne..

or maybe we should bring back pat white?? lol

Thomas passing stats in college 7 / 12 150 yards 2 TDs 1 int

there is only one place I want to see the wildcat. At the goaline on first down. thats it.

Wildcat is gone.

they dont trust henne? really. ok then, mr. 4 posts.

I doubt we use it. I don't believe the wildcat was stymied last season because it was just "figured out", well not 100% anyway. It truly is power football and if blocked well it can still be effective. Problem is we couldn't block for crap last year, hence the wildcat being completeyl ineffective. I doubt we break it out for NE though. Belechick likes to take something away from your offense. It will be interesting to see if he chooses Rgiie Bush or Brandon Marshall in this first game. It will also be interesting to see if we can beat them with the other guys.

We will still run it...Daniel Thomas will take Ronnies place and Reggie will take Rickys place. Daniel Thomas is a former QB and he ran the wild cat in college. We may not use it as much as B 4, but we def will see it on the field.

We wont see the wildcat as we knew it, but we will certainly see some gimmick plays from Daboll.
