I cant figure out how most analysis that I have heard saying tat the wildcat will be nothing because everyones already figured it out. I just want to know when the figuring out thing happened. I mean it didnt happen anytime last year. What was there no time to pop in the film and figure out then but now in the offseason theirs this plethora of time for figuring that stuff out. Dont the analyis believe at all that offensive cordinators can go ahead and figure out new ways to out smart the defense at all? I just want to know what the deal is.

The analysts obviously do not know that we run it not to see how well we can execute it, but to see how different defenses react and defend it, then we are able to diagnose and counter the defense, thus making it even more dangerous.

There are so many more wrinkles. 1) Ronnie & Pat in the backfield, 2) Ginn replacing Ricky, 3) White taking Penny's place, etc...

Yeah, i think this is more media types calling it gimmicky and not giving it a real chance. Granted at the end of last season some teams did begin to figure it out, but with a whole offseason of work, plus the Pat White factor and new spread offense sets for them to counter as well, it's going to be a completely different version of the Wildcat this season.

If you listen to the last interview, the coach gave us a hint.. he said you can judge a preseason team - and you certainly cant judge us by our playbook.. This sounded like he dropped us a hint.. if you listen, sounded like they have a whole bag of Surprises yet to be seen. I had the feeling they were slow drawing the deck.

It would not suprise me if the first play of the game ronnie is back in WC and we score ala reverse to cobb.

So are they ever going to get Ginn involved with this wildcat stuff??

you know, so much is made of the WC that everyone forgets how good Ginn is at the reverses out of the base offense. 2 TD's last year i believe. Thats impressive if you ask me.

Teams worry about the WC, then forget the rest it seems.

I think our first plays every game should come out of the Wildcat. Make the other defenses start thinking from the very first play. And then have the next two plays called so we dont even have to huddle. This offense needs all the help it can get to put pressure on opposing defenses. And with our running backs, they just need the defense to be a fraction of a second late in their gaps and its a huge play.

the media will say this every year just because every team cant run it.. Listen just because one team does a great job at shutting it down doesn't mean another team can replicate it .. I mean com on who shut it down one of the best defensive crews in the ravens?

Yeah, everytime I hear someone saying that it's only a gimmick and won't last I smile, because I know the exact opposite..

It's gonna be a gimmick play...until all a sudden a couple years from now...it's a standard play. At one point, shotgun formation was a gimmick. Now it isn't. Last year we were the first team to do it. By the end of the season a half dozen teams tried it. Why, because it works and it's effective. What people don't seem to realize is that it's not a gimmick play for us. It's a STANDARD play in our offense. One we may not call as much as the others...but it's still a regular play in our playbook. It's not a fake spike, or fake punt or something completely off the wall.
