Do you think we have seen the last of it after this season??

With the emergence of a decent passing game do you think we will shift over to a more balanced attack and traditional offense??

I think we will see a more traditional offense with an occassional wildcat look. I like the Pistol with Pat White for the change of pace and option style play. I think it can be effective with him running or handing it off
to keep defenses on their toes.

I dont see it being used 15 times a game nomore but i do still expect to see it again at some point...as long as Dan Henning is around...

I believe they are fine in using it, if they use it like they did last year. You hardly ever saw it brought out on first down. If we found ourselves in 2nd and 3, or something similar, we saw the Wildcat. This is where this formation has maximum effectiveness. This year we also were wise in using it in the goal to go situations. Running the Wildcat at our 25 yard line on first down isn't so good, in my eyes. A negative play is a drive killer. I believe they think Henne can get them out of 2nd and long, or 3rd and long. More than a few times early on this season, we would bring Pat White in, or run the regular Wildcat, and Henne would have to come in and try and make a play on 3rd and long. I believe like any formation or personnel grouping, down and distance, area of the field, and who the opponent is, are the things that should go into our use of the Wildcat.

Alot of this depends upon whether the QB of the Wildcat is re-signed. You saw how much less they used it when Ronnie went down. If RB is re-signed, it will be used as usual. If he's not, we will see Pat White running the Pistol along side the traditional offense.

I'm beginning to think White was drafted solely b/c the FO knew they wouldn't be re-signing RB. It's unfortunate b/c RB is my favorite player, but if they can run the Cat using White and actually have him throw the ball out of the formation, it may be effective. Should be an interesting off-season.

It depends on a few things.

If Henning retires (as some have mentioned in other posts) or not. If so, does his replacement embrace the wildcat?

Will Ronnie Brown return and will he be as effective before his injury? If he is not back or is uneffective, is there someone else to fill his shoes?

I don't know if it really has a lot to do with Henning retiring because the formation was actually brought here by Lee the QB coach. I have a feeling we will see it next year a few times no matter if it is White or Ronnie running the formation. I just hope we use it less on first down and more on shorter down and distance situations as teams seem to have a tougher time defending it the fewer opportunities they get to see it on the field.

IMO I don't think they drafted white to get rid of ronnie, they wouldnt draft a qb to replace a rb besides its not like ronnie is only useful in the wildcat if you remember before it came along he was a stud at rb in a conventional offense.

I don't know why a lot of people think that Ronnie is not going to be re-signed. Why wouldn't we want Ronnie back? I know he has had injuries but when healthy this guy can run and punish. I think Ronnie and Ricky will be back next season and i also think the wildcat will be in full swing next season.

People on here think he is not going to be resigned because people on this site think they are better gm's and coaches than the people getting paid to do it. I don't even like coming to this site anymore because of the ridiculous threads and posts of people. I agree with you though, both will be back and it will be in full swing. Cuz lets be honest, if ronnie walks this offseason then we just let the best player on our team walk.
