I like everything Bill has done to this point,(or not done) but I think we all can agree that he has made a mistake with the handling of Wilford and Vonnie. I realize Wilford's contract is a mess cap wise, but he should have released him,or traded him for a bag of potato's or something. Vonnie just wasn't that expenssive for a guy that is ABOVE average. Look what other linemen are getting. O-lineman and D-lineman drop like flies through a football season. How do you tell Vonnie (a leader, stuck through thick and thin) that we're keeping wilford who plays 2 min a year, but were getting rid of you. I'm not saying we're down and out, but that was a mistake by Bill. Fix your own screw-ups but don't take it out on Vonnie. Not thrilled about this move. You need leaders and depth, not WR benchwarmers!

You are correct fellow Phinz fan :woot: Wilford is crap:crazy: he should be cut first :hi5:

cutting Wilford costs the Fins money....cutting Vonnie saves money

two totally different issues

Yeah, as Z81 states, it is a different issue. Wilford deserves to be cut because he cant get on the field but if the Fins release him, it costs us money on the cap. With the release of Holliday, we save money on the cap.

Well if we cut Wilford and add that cap hit to Vonnie's it's pretty much 4 mil in dead cap right there.

So much for this years cap increase.

I really hate how punitive this system is set up. Releasing players, especially bad ones like Wilford should not cost a
team over a million dollars.

Their needs to be limits on the sort of thing. SHs

If Cleveland trades Shaun Rogers it will be a cap hit over 9 mil.

That is absurd. How can anyone in their right minds consider that fair.

What good does that kind of punishment do any concerned party?

It's bad for the team, players, fans, the league, everybody, except maybe a few lawyers.

RFS!

I don't think there's anyone that doesn't want to cut Wilford, but if it's cheaper to keep her, keep her.

Wilford would create a giant cap hit if he were released..so I don't think it happens in the near future.

Sad to see Holliday go.... But Parcells' and Co. brought in Wilford, its his mess to fix. The only veteran leader on the defense now is Ferguson.... not sure if I consider Porter and Will Allen leaders?....but maybe.... and maybe Crowder will step up
