wilkinson 40 time!!!

i almost fell out of my chair watchin the practice highlight from today on miamidolphins.com. the very last thing you see before it is over are 2 coaches clocking wilkinson running what looks to be about an 8 second 40.

any ideas on why they would even bother with something like that?

I came up with about eight seconds too. Dan spoke of it in his interview. I think they use it as a baseline and perhaps compare it to known numbers, he said it was a measure of fitness.

it looked like he was sucking air from the last one when the camera found him. His core was still trying to cool down during the interview.

keep in mind, that was possibly at the end of practice, which means he had already been exerting himself and was tired at that point. plus, the combine has proven that 40 times dont mean jack.
