Dolphins | Wilkinson's addition may be key for Miami
Sun, 20 Aug 2006 14:22:27 -0700
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/9">ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the addition of DT Dan Wilkinson to the Miami Dolphins roster may turn out to be a key signing for the 2006 season. "He's got some quickness, which helps us inside, because it gives us a pass-rush presence," head coach Nick Saban said after Miami's 13-10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "It's good to see him out there playing for us and having some success." In a little over a quarter of work, Wilkinson recorded three tackles, 1½ sacks and two quarterback pressures. Miami had to pursue Wilkinson for about two months, and there was speculation Wilkinson dragged out the discussions because he didn't want to subject himself to the rigors of early training camp, particularly in the South Florida heat. "I've been healthy and I've been in good shape my entire career," Wilkinson said. "I knew coming out (on the field) that I was ready to roll."

I know when he came in the game good thing's started happening. Our defense seemed to get a charge out of his play.I noticed the same thing happen's alot when Evan's come's in.Our D-line is going to be a holy terror this season.

well the dline rotation just got alot stronger. miami should be near impossible to run up the middle on.

It was very impressive. DW's Miami debut should stoke the fuel of any fin fan.
I thought he made an immediate impact in the game upon his arrival.

he did look good. Nothing brook trouts a qb faster than a middle push on the pocket and he will give us some more of that. Other things break down when four of them have to attend to two of us.

Yep, he played well and looks to be a good addition for this year, but honestly, how much older can this d-line get? Taylor, Carter, Traylor, Holliday, Zgonina, and now Wilkinson- all good players, but all in the last half (some in the last year or two) of their careers. With Manny Wright flaking out and Roth continuing his Invisible Man impersonation, where's the future?
