Will Allen a starter?

I have read a lot of post where you guys think Will Allen will come back to start.
I'm not saying he wont, But the flaw in the theory is that you think Sean Smith will move to nickel.
No way in hell can Sean play the nickel position.
I happen to think that Will Allen would be the perfect nickel db witch makes the Nate Jones signing very interesting.
 
Anybody that thinks Will Allen is starting next season needs rethink that idea. It will be Davis, Smith, and Allen as the nickelback.
 
Jones is a flexible depth guy and a high character guy. You try to hang on to those types.

Even if Will ends up being our nickel corner, Jones would be an excellent dime back.

I don't think anyone is necessarily penciled in anywhere. It remains to be seen how much the young pups learn and grow this offseason, or whether Will Allen comes back and wins a starting job. Either way, I don't think you can lose with both Jones and Allen on the roster.

its not like the players cant move around to cover different players
 
i agree Allen as a Nickle back would be a good , espacialy with improved LBers and Safety play.
 
I'd like to see him given a shot at free safety if he makes it back. Doubt he still has the speed to play corner after another bad injury. In fact his speed was pretty borderline even before the injury

if players like he and jason allen and chad pennington
are back with the finz.

same with ricky williams. we need to MOVE ON and
get players in here qwho are healthy and hungry.

will allen cant cover anybody and was having a TERRABLE season
before he was hurt.

it doesnt matter where you put him, it will be bad as the guy
is a turnstyle. thats why the finz drafted 2 cb's high in the draft.

plese god..... NO WILL ALLEN!!!!!

I don't even know what to say. If you think Will Allen is a liability, you're...just insane! He's one of the more underrated corners in the NFL. He's not a standout, but he can play corner VERY well. Let's all not get too sucked into these rookie corners. The best at their position will start for us.
 
Allen (Will) played a lot in the nickle in '08, almost like a natural....good spot for him!
 
I expect Jones and Allen to fight for the 3rd DB spot but obviously both will still be on the team. Either Jason Allen or Tyrone Culver wont be back, BUT I wouldn't be surprised if they both stayed and we cut Wilson since Culver can play backup SS .Tony always says you cant have enough good corners.

Before he got hurt his catch % allowed was waaay better than either Smith or Davis. Allen is a very good CB. As far as the question from the OP, Yes I think Will Allen will be starting and then on passing downs either Allen or Davis will be playing the slot.

Noone knows how he will come back from injury but the pre-injury Allen was by far the best the phins had. If Will is anything close to what he was he'll start.
 
allen will be back to play nickle and jones will play dime jason allen will be gone hes a bum and well prob draft a corner or two because allen is getting old

Before Allen went down he played 329 plays and only allowed 11 receptions:bowdown:

His catch percentage ratio(which means passes thrown to his area that are completed)was only second to Revis with an incredible 37.9%:bowdown:
Davis was at 63.2 %
Smith was at 56.7 %

The QB rating against can be a strong factor
in your coverage abilities

Allen was 3rd in the NFL out of 107 corners with a QB rating of 49.8 :bowdown:
both Davis and Smith had QB ratings over 100.

Allen had 0 missed tackles on 329 plays:bowdown:
Smith and Davis had 14 between them

Allen allowed 152 yards on 329 plays:bowdown:

Davis allowed 835 yards on 709 plays

Smith allowed 753 yards on 914 plays

Allen dominated to the point of his being only second to Revis as a corner so the true question should be

Who will be starting next to WILL ALLEN:chuckle:
