Will Allen Draft Analysis.

I thought it would be interesting to see what some draft experts said after Allen was Drafted. Here is what I found.

[FONT=ARIAL,HELVETICA]He has been the cornerback the Giants wanted all along. They were afraid there would be a run on corners, which is why they traded up. I was told they were not going to take a tight end in the first round, but they had been trying to move up to about where they picked. He has ability as a returner and is probably the fastest corner in the draft. His critics call him a workout warrior, but I think he will do real good things in John Fox's defense. At 192 pounds and with great speed, Fox will blitz Allen off the edge on the short side. Dave Thomas was not as bad as everyone thought last year, and Allen could be brought along slowly as the nickel back rather than throwing him to the wolves. He's not the tallest corner, but he's tall enough and his 3.90 short shuttle tells me he can change direction and open his hips. A nice addition to a Super Bowl team.[/FONT]

I did not know the Giants traded up 8 spots to get him. He was the fastest CB at the Combine with a 4.39 40. The guy has great pysical ability. I hope Nick can turn him into an elite CB. I also did not know he had skills as a returner. Did the Giants ever use him as a returner?

Those are impressive numbers.

Jason Allen beat those numbers just slightly at this years combine. There's the potential for Miami to have a very fast secondary.

hey nice research! i thin they used him a few times at punt returning but not a whole lot. they had morton and a few others there for a while. anyways i think nick can make him in an elite corner and he can be pro bowl caliber!

I think so too. It's nice to have a corner with that kind of speed. It would be nice if we could re-sign Schulters. We would have a pretty solid secondary with Allen, Daniels, Poole, Schulters, Bell, and Hill.

I think Allen will be good in Miami. I was a fan of his in college. I think a new team will help him, He will help our secondary that gave up so many big plays last year

He's fast no doubt but the one questionmark is his ability to use his hands to make a play not his feet. He's a noted Int dropper and doesn't really get his hands in there to break up the play.
