Will Allen - DB - Dolphins

The Palm Beach Post suggests that CB Will Allen's roster spot is in jeopardy.

Allen restructured his contract in February, dropping his base salary from $5.5 million to $1.5 million. That still might not be enough. He has dealt with a hamstring injury and still may be feeling the ACL tear he suffered back in Week 6 of the 2009 season. With Allen at age 33, the Dolphins have younger, healthier options.

Dude is done. At this point I'd rather ask Surtain or Madison to play nickel, than to have a broken down Will trying to play pattycake with Wes Welker in the slot

He is starting to practice, and if healthy he is still pretty darn good. He will have plenty of time before Week 1 to compete for the job.

Good, then Reggie could get back his #25

Especially with the way Benny Sapp has been playing...Oh well its not a big lost, if only Nolan Carrol can man the Nickle. I prefer him over Sapp.

He'll have to be healthy from the remainder of camp. The guy must be awesome because we've gotten rid of less injury prone players.

I don't know. The way Carrol got burned by Harry Douglas of the Falcons...I don't think he even tried to jam him, gave him a free release and of course Culver was late with help.

Sapp , Carroll and Wilson are looking like they are going to make the team...Plus Smith and Vontae

Thats five..Do we carry 6?

He won't lose his spot, You don't cut a guy like Allen unless you absolutely have to.

Who will take his spot? A ST LB'ER a WR who will get 10 catches this season? No reason to cut him and none of those last 7 guys to make the roster are worth keeping over him

never understood why they wasted money and a roster spot bringing him back.

he wasnt anything before the injury and we drafted cb's back to back in 2009 because he sucked so bad!

but, i do know tony [through parcells] hates young players, doesnt go out of his way to develope them and will usually put a vet, any in before the youns player. one of the reasons this team is failing.

but anyhoo, if this IS true, this is GREAT news and helps a guy like jimmie wilson or philip livas with an open roster spot.

his brain is more valuable then his body. has been for the past 2 -3 years.

Exactly. Same reason you would have kept Penny on the roster. Some guys are just worth a roster spot even if they can't play. Like I said that 53rd isn't that important to get rid of the leadership and teachings Will Allen can bring to the table.
