Will Allen returns to practice

go with the youth...or bring in someone elses veteran cap cut when it happens...

allen reminds me of that nwa song "you can't trust this"

I think we need Will Allen to mentor VD and SS. With him as the 3r CB, we are in pretty good shape there. Not as good as the Iggles CBs, but pretty good. We'll need him with NE and the jests...

It might be good for him to be in this spot. It'll allow more time for him to recuperate from his injury and play his way back into shape. He's a solid CB. Not a Revis or Asumougha, but solid none the less... More importantly, we are hurting at that position if he can't be the 3rd CB.

Sapp is so underrated on this board. Sapp isn't great by any means. But he certainly isn't garbage. He also is much much much better then Allen(during Will's prime) in run support and tackling. and In the slot that is a very good thing to be good at.

You mean the same Sapp that was burned time and again last season in the slot ??

What do they need Will mentoring them in how to get a DUI?

Knee soreness wouldn't be surprising and IMO that wouldn't mean much. Probably just taking it really slow with him just like Long.

If it's the groin again, I'd be more worried about that. That could nag him and slow him down all year.

Will Allen is not needed to mentor 2 budding 3rd year corners. And we also don't need him at anything less than 100%. His best days are behind him . . . he wasn't winning no starting job . . . even when he was healthy in 2008, Goodman was a better CB and he wasn't all of that. In 2009, both rookies out played Will Allen and last year w/o him we had the #6 ranked defense. We are far from hurting if he isn't available.

Meh, yea he had a few times where he got beat bad . . . nothing outrageous and we have seen much worse in the slot. There is no guarantee that Will Allen was gonna be an upgrade, even if he was healthy. Sapp is adequate in the slot and he brings alot as a blitzer. Was he as good as Nate Jones was in the slot, probably not, but I don't think the drop off is very far. Definitely not as bad as Reggie Howard.
