will allen sits out for 2nd day in a row

i've got wide shoulders...i can handle it

but in the event we find out allens out due to discomfort with his knee or swelling in it like i'm concerned with and i've seen the same kind of handling with guys early in camp for you'll know where it first came from
they put him on IR last year after a similar issue right?

mando says the dolphins took carroll off kick return teams wanting him to concentrate on being the 3rd corner...i didn't like what i saw from caroll in the nickle over the slot last year in the preseason just gave guys too much space to operate in but that may have been he just didn't trust himself yet

i still think carroll long terms a better boundary cb fit...

This was thrown around last year . . . but why not put Vontae on the slot guy and let Smith/Carroll man the boundary in 3 WR sets. Sapp I guess is serviceable but he would clearly be the weak link on the defense.

i'm trying to recall exactly...i wanna say he tore his acl in 2009 and never could get the knee right last year during camp and they ir'd him...and if he's missing time again this year 2 days in a row in pads its a bad omen...if you ask me...i think his career is likely over...unless again there's something else here but there's plenty of missed time due to injury of late to where i would not depend on him giving me 16 games

This is how crazy rumors and threads get started. He's probably just getting a couple days off. Anyway.....how's Nolan Carroll looking so far?

i'm not taking the only cb we have who's capable of fully locking down a teams #1 wr and moving him off the boundary...vontae imo must stay on the outside as much as possible...i'd like to if carroll showed well enough go with vontae and carroll on the boundarys and sean smith in that same rover roll he played last year...long term i'd like to get carroll starting on the boundary...he's got the kind of tools i want playin the boundary...probably not this season but soon

so did will allen participate in the scrimmage yesterday???

Don't remember reading his name even once anywhere. Things have been awfully quiet on the Will Allen front...doesn't bode well for him methinks.

If Will Allen is injured, it's certainly disappointing as his veteran leadership is much needed with our young secondary group and he was a very solid corner for us previously (no hands, but good coverage skills). Though, if we were to suffer an injury at any position, this is the one we can afford it. With Davis and Smith entrenched, and Carroll, Nate Ness, Jose Perez and Jimmy Wilson all having shown ability we're not in bad shape.

Sparano is trying to be smart about some vets, keeping them out to keep them healthy. He's desperate. Last year he kept Jake Long in for way more meaningless preseason time than was wise and the result was an MCL tear that persisted the whole year. Sparano is trying to learn from his mistakes. One of those mistakes he's trying to correct is to stop tinkering with the OL after a certain point in the preseason. As a former OL Coach you'd have thought he would already know that one. SMH. But anyway it's possible another lesson he's trying to learn is keeping the veterans on the back burner during the toughest parts of camp, if you can afford it, and letting the young guys get more reps.

But at the same time this is Will Allen and he hasn't played in almost two years. So obviously, not a good sign. For some reason they made the mistake of putting him on IR last year rather than working out an injury settlement. It worked out in Will's favor, he got paid a boat load of money to rehab his injury. Now they feel obligated to keep trying with him...where I get the feeling that normally, they'd have just let him go by now this off season.

so ck you think sparano is just resting will allen for the last 3 days worth of practices??? have you heard anything about his knee being an issue or needing treatment or anything like that???

i haven't heard a peep...but 3 days in a row now if he didn't participate yesterday has me thinking its not good
