Just how good is this will alen guy. i did see a few giants games last season but he wasnt the most explosive player on the feild. can he take over as the #1 cb ???

Check the other threads, but basically he has had trouble catching the INTs, but has been in position to make them, so thats a positive. He has started 71 of 72 games, is a former 1st round pick, has decent size, excellent speed (4.33 at the combine), and is a good tackler who supports the run nicely. Basically, just has to get his hands on those picks, because he is otherwise a very solid cover corner. We wont have a true #1 under Saban- he will put together a deep group of guys that play the way he likes and that are coachable.

he could and might be but right now it will probably belong to daniels

He brings veteran leadership and will compete for a starting job...but I cant call him our #1 just yet...ofcourse we play our cb's to there position.. so whoever is on the right side STAYS on the right..regardless if there covering Chad Johnson or a mediocre guy like Mccarains etc.

Key StatsGP: 16Tackles: 72Sacks: 0Int: 0TDs: 0FF: 1Judge: A former first-round pick, he became the poster child for inconsistent play. One week he looked good; the next he was surrendering touchdowns. A five-year starter. Had no interceptions last season.

Interceptions are nice, but give me a guy who can prevent passes from being completed over the guy who goes for the big play anyday. This guy is not a top tier signing, but he definitely is a quality under the radar player who could be good for us. Hill was a nice signing as well, and I'm no longer that worried about our secondary with 3 or 4 quality corners.

:yeahthat:

giants fans don't like him, but give me a break. The giants played against T.O., Santana Moss and Keyshawn Johnson last year within their own division. I would expect allen to get beat a few times too with that comin at me.
