This is not a start Cleo Lemon thread. I am simply trying to get people's opinions. When do you all think Saban will let Cleo Lemon see some action? What do you think has to happen for this to take place? Maybe Saban could follow Crennel and play him for some series? Any thoughts?

If we are mathematically out of contention, I think Cleo gets time.

With Rosenfels experiment all but done, and Frerotte not the future of this team. Cleo better play, just keep the expectations down and see what happens.

It all comes down to a few things happening. Cleo must know the playbook, Gus has to get injured or have a mare of a game to warrant Lemon coming in and where we stand in a game regarding the score.. Im hoping Sage doesnt come in infront of Lemon if he has the playbook nailed. Im not a Cleo fan only because i havnt seen him play but im all for giving him a run out if it will benefit the player as well as the team.

Hey don't be dissin my boy Roseyfels! :yell:

I think we'll definitely see him when we're mathematically eliminated. The coaches need to find out how highly we need to draft a QB this year, and I think that rests on how Lemon looks when we play him.

I really hope he gets a little time in the last two games or so. I know he's probably not a wiz with the playbook yet, and you don't want to kill his confidence by rushing him (as much confidence as you might have sitting behind Ferrotte and Rosenfels anyway).

But what's wrong with running the ball 40+ times a game anyway, especially late in the season when our defense is beat up? I'm sure Cleo can hand off, and throw the occassional screen, slant or short out.

The more losses the better the chance he plays .. he WILL play this season no doubt ...unless we win out with gus getting hot I dont see how he wouldnt get some playing time probably near the end of the season, when he has had some more time to familerize himself with our offense.

If he proves to coach Saban that he has potential to possibly the future, he'll get the chance to play this year.

If Saban sees him in practice and thinks he has a backup futur elike he did with Rosenfels, he'll never play here barring injuries IMO.

Regardless of whether Lemon plays or not...we are drafting a QB (hopefully first rd).... Lemon is not the answer... this guys has been 3rd string on NFL Europe..2 other nfl teams dropped him... and after playing a good game in the preseason..he was hyped and the SD dealt him...they signed him as free agent..got a 6th rd & Aj.

Might see him in the last game of the season... or if not...wait till preseason next year...after hes had time to learn the system..

The more I think of that trade, the more I feel like they gave the Chargers a 6th round pick just to get Feeley off our hands ... and Lemon was just an after thought.

As Nick has already stated about any player on the squad. Cleo will get playing time when Cleo earns that playing time. When Nick made the comment that decisions weren't going to be made based on their record, he was hinting as much at playing young guys just to play them as he was about keeping an injured veteran out simply because their record wasn't good.
