I was just wondering if anyone had any info on Dan Henning's future with the Dolphins? Could he possibly be replaced, or is he already signed up for 2010?

IMO...He isn't the worst OC in the league, but sure as hell ain't in the top tier. I'd put him around 20-22 out of the 32. The WildCat was an awesome move, that so many teams tried to emulate but just can't run it like us. There were some good calls here n there at the right time.
But overall, I think it was a majority of bad calls, wrong calls at the wrong time, & looked like he didn't really know what our O players strengths were to call the right plays. Now it's not all him when it comes to utilizing the talent correctly...but he's calling the plays, which I think should be upgraded a little. I'm sure as hell no expert, but the great OC's know how to utilize their players strengths, & I really didn't see that from us. It looked like a lot of players doing things that weren't their strengths. Henne has a strong arm which wasn't used that much this year. Ginn has speed, but not so good hands except on the deep ball. Ronnie can run good off tackle. Ricky can run good up the gut & bouncing it out to off tackle if need be. I mean, that's just some common knowledge things by DolFans, but why aren't we seeing our players playing their strengths enough? There were many 3rd & 5+ that we were in this year, & that's where I thought was really the worst play calling. A really lot of quick 2-3 yd slants??? It was a rare thing to see a 10+ yd pass, & Henne got the arm to make those passes. And granted we need a #1 WR desperately, but Cam, Hartline, Bess, & Ginn all have different talents & could of been catching a lot better of passes. They're just running their route, & Henne is just throwing to their route...but that's where I think the problem is...bad play calling.

I hope that Henning does a lot better job this year if he is gonna remain with us. Unless it's bc his hands are tied...idk...but play calling needs to get better. We're not that far off, if we just stop with mistakes & bad play calling on both sides of the ball. The DC was addressed...is the OC next? Or does he stay?

Every fan hates their team's offensive coordinator. We are a marginally talented offense that did as good as the talent dictated. Considering we lost our two best offensive players, the offense overachieved if anything. Stop complaining.

Didn't we set a record for most 30 point games in a row?

I don't think our offense was the problem, offensive execution was a problem at times, but play selection seemed reasonable to me. Like you said plays were sometimes predictable but we had some big plays too. I think we need "playmakers" more so than a new OC.

He'll be back. The problem I had with Henning was the need to get to cute to often. The throw by Ricky at Buffalo was the last straw. Sparano seemed to get control of that and Henning was fine.

He was able to make the offense productive in an offense lacking key talent at WR.

I doubt that. If any team did I'm sure it was the Colts or Saints.

A team record not NFL record.

I seriously hope he retires. He's awful when the playcalling is left in his hands.

if henning were to leave they better make david lee next in line, david lee is a genious

Their waiting for him to get up from his nap that he started in the beginning of the year to find out what he's going to do

I didn't say it was an NFL record...

I will admit I didn't specify team record or nfl record, but I figured since we were discussing our OC I didn't have too...I stand corrected...

I would understand why tony would keep him. Maybe because with ronnie in we were scoring over 30, but personally i think dan does not have what this team needs. I do not care how many point we score the point is find a way to win and dan can't do that.

I watch all season how awful our team was when it came to 2 min drills, how they would walk and how i could predict nearly everything henning was going to. Im not saying do trick plays there are many ways to keep defenses on their feet with a traditional offense AND its NOT always putting screens in. Sadly i truly think tony will give him another year. Maybe we can get lucky and ronnie stays all next season so henning can look ok. Does anyone find it funny that the reason why tony hired him was so tony can have more control over the offense then he gave dan more control and we did less? Anyone?
