LONDON — Jet-lagged and a little bleary-eyed, the Miami Dolphins arrived in London early Friday and almost immediately went to work.

With Ryan Tannehill as the starting quarterback.

Tannehill and his teammates hit the practice field only hours after touching down in the British capital, getting in one last session before the Dolphins (1-2) face the Oakland Raiders (0-3) on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.

"We had an excellent practice today," Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said. "I really thought the focus and concentration was really good."

After days of questions surrounding the quarterback situation in Miami, "really good" is probably about as good as it gets.

Philbin has been noncommittal all week on who will start against the Raiders. And although he again declined to say the name "Tannehill" on Friday, he indicated he would not switch to backup Matt Moore this weekend by mentioning the team's depth chart.

"Those guys are going to be starters until I announce something different," Philbin said. "That's one way of answering the question, and that's the way it's going to be answered."

Tannehill, who has completed only 56.5 percent of his passes and ranks 29th in the NFL in passer rating at 74.1, has already said he will be taking the snaps at Wembley in the first of this year's three regular-season games in London.

"It's done," Tannehill said of the controversy. "It was something we faced earlier in the week, but it's done."

With that out of the way, the Dolphins really face only one other obstacle before they try to even their record by beating the Raiders: jet lag.

"I think we'll be able to get past it," said Tannehill, who praised Philbin for letting the players sit in first class while the coaches sat in, well, coach.

"I think we have to do a good job tonight and tomorrow night of resting up and letting our bodies catch up on sleep," Tannehill said, "but I think we'll be just fine."

The Raiders arrived in London on Monday and have been practicing at a facility south of the city all week. That will at least give them the advantage of having more time to acclimate to the time difference.

I just recently took a trip to Greece and I didn't experience any jetlag after the first day. As long as they get enough rest today, I don't see it being a problem honestly.

That's good to hear. The media is always talking about West Coast teams coming east for 1 o'clock games. I was just wondering if Oakland really had a big advantage by coming on Monday.

The West Coast teams coming to East Coast is a little different because I think they really only come in on Saturdays, right? So they don't typically have enough time to adjust. But even then, it probably is a bit overstated.

It was a good move for Oakland to go earlier because their jet lag would be even worse. Gives them some time to ensure that they body clocks are adjusted to London time.

Being from the East Coast, going to Greece, I didn't have any problems with jet lag after taking a nap the day I got in and going to be early. After that I was fine. I think the Dolphins should be fine for a Sunday game.

That's because when a team travels from the west coast to the east coast and the game starts at 1 PM EST that's 10 AM their time. That means for them its like getting up at around 3 AM to get ready for a game.

I didn't know the Raiders arrived that early. Makes sense given it's an eight hour time difference for them. Teams on the West Coast typically struggle coming to the East Coast (more than the other way around) and that's only a three hour difference.

Take some Advocare Spark and be done with it.

I had a 12+ hour flight from Charlotte to Rome. I slept about 8 of those hours. No jet lag. Jet lag is completely overrated imo.

It's not that simple. Not everybody suffers from jet lag the same way. I've flown all over and never had jet lag -- and that's without sleeping on the airplane, which I'm totally unable to do -- but it takes some people a few days to get acclimated no matter what.

Agreed. Well, only if you play it smart. (Must sleep on the plane and adjust watch to new time zone at the beggining of the flight and pretend thats the real time)

Just took a flight to Frankfurt, Germany last month on business. 9 hour flight, 8 hour time difference.

Just eat and slept on the plane. Landed at 8am Germany time and just kept going like it was a brand new day.

Lol ya these guys are flying in the lap of luxury. Its not like they are going there on a bus :)

I think the Raiders got screwed though. They had to fly all the way from CA and they still have to play a 10 AM PST game.
