I know the full back in the NFL is a dying position, but will Gase utilize it in his offense? Most teams around the NFL don't use the full back since we are in a passing league now so it will be easier to get one on our team. If we draft a full- back im sure we can get a really good one late in the draft. Only if Gase uses one. Look at Carolina how they use Tolbert who is an all-pro. Charles Clay was a FB/HB/TE and look how he did.

It's hard to find enough snaps for a full back to warrant a roster spot.

Tolbert gets away with it because he can block for Cam, as well as running backs, he also takes some carries and can leak out for a few catches a game.

Clay was a special player for us, a lot of people said he was overpaid but there isn't another player in the NFL like him, who can do as much as he does. Losing his production (pre injury) was a huge setback for this offense no doubt about it.

The kid from Northwestern AKA "SuperBack" is the closest I've seen to a real roster-worthy FB but still.....ugh hard to rationalize the roster spot.

I think carrying a f.b is a must. Can be used in goaline,3rd and short, running out clock at end of game, and just something else for defenses to prepare for. He can do special teams to earn his spot

I sure hope we do. At least we need an h-back type. More i-form, strong, etc, I want to see that.

Something this team at its current state needs. Absolutely have to get this right though.

Maybe it's because I played as one in HS, and loved watching Alstott and Johnston while growing up, but I hope we at least have one on the roster.

Finding a good one, that isn't one dimensional is tough, with college teams going with spread offenses.

There's Gronk #4 or 5 coming out of college and Watt's younger brother is eligible for the draft.

A fullback who can block, catch the ball, and be productive in short yardage situations is not a waste of a roster spot.

Problem is, why can't your RBs do that? Short yardage is really about line push anyway. Being 250 instead of 230 isn't going to stop D line penetration.

And to the OPs question, the only reason to have a FB is if you are using one as a lead blocker on running plays. Almost all other scenarios would be better to have a RB or TE/H Back doing the job.

I love fullbacks, but I doubt it

Split on this.

I will say this, I sure miss Polite being an almost automatic on 3rd/4th and short. We have not had that since he left, including Clay.

You're right. Maybe I should have clarified that I would like a RB who can punch the defense in the mouth. Unless Ajayi proves otherwise, we don't have one of those on the roster.

Yah I'd definitely like a RB who's a lot bigger. Ajayi seems small to me even though he runs with power. Obvious cut here would be DWilliams.

I am neither for or against a FB, but...The phins need to upgrade the OL, CB, & LB before worrying about what could be considered a 'luxury'

That said, this offense really bogged down this season w/o Clay.
