I sure hope Joey can return to his pro-bowl form and be dominate the way he was in Blitzburgh. I hope he will once again be one of the most feared defenders in the league. This quote from an article in the Herald makes it sound like he will have no excuses this year if he does not produce.

Earlier in the spring, defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni emphatically stated he would use Porter in the manner he gained fame during eight seasons in Pittsburgh -- as a pass-rushing, 3-4 outside linebacker. Last season, Dolphins defensive coordinator Dom Capers felt Porter's training camp injuries hurt him in picking up Capers' scheme, but Porter believed the defense didn't maximize his abilities.
''This scheme, I'm familiar with, this 3-4 scheme,'' Porter said. ``It's what I've been waiting for. We've got it now. We've got to go out there and put pressure on a lot of different offenses we've seen.''

What kind of season do you think he will have?

Well, if he starts off hot maybe we'll get lucky and be able to ship him off for a high draft pick for a contending team that might need another pass rushing LB to get over the hump.

sometimes I wonder if the fans we have are legitimate

Now, that's not nice. It's just something that you shouldn't totally rule out. Porter was a bad signing, has a bad contract, and was never meant for this team. There is no denying that. If the Dolphins have the chance to unload Porter and get some decent value in return for him, they should absolutely do it. If it's one thing that rebuilding teams need, it's more draft picks.

It depends how well he does . . . I think we can compete next year for the playoffs . . . so I don't want to get rid of JP if he puts on a display because we need his leadership, his passion and his ability. We already lost JT . . . I wouldn't feel comfortable replacing another potential Pro Bowl OLB in the 3-4 for a pick. But then again, who knows how these guys will play so its all speculation at this point. It will be hard to turn down a second from a team like San Diego if Merriman goes down, I guess we will see.

JP brings more than just his talents to the lb position. JP brings enthuasiam, energy, and charisma to the team, something this team wouldnt have without him...next in line is Jay feely....take your pick

Joey Porter will probably never be in the Pro Bowl again. The man is done being a monster. But that isn't to say he can't be very effective.

None of our other linebackers are serious blitzing threats, so teams will watch Porter and try to keep him in check. By the time our defense is solid, he won't be in any shape to dominate again.

He is younger than JT. why you say he can't make it back to the probowl. I think in the right scheme, he can be dominate for a couplde of more years.

JP is going to have every opportunity to get his game back. I look for Holiday, and Porter to be leaders on this defense, in act as well as in word.

porter will play his butt off and give this defense the fire that it needs .. let him do his thing !!!! lets support our team and let the rest of the world badmouth our players !

I dont see Joey returning to Pro Bowl form in Miami. He was playing on some great defenses in Pitt, and team couldnt just key on one guy, which benefitted him among others. Im sure with JT gone now, Porter will be the guy teams key on in the pass protection. That, and I dont think hes the same player anymore. I see 7-8 sacks from him.

well.... now that we have a DC who actually knows how to use him correctly, I'd say we have a good chance to see drastic improvement.

I personally feel that Porter will make some noise this year. He's excited that he's back in the 3-4 and people are saying that he's in really good shape. I thought he put on some 10 lbs. and gained some speed this offseason? Combine that with the fact that our d-coordinator, Pasqualioni (sp?), will be constantly looking for mismatches so that Porter can blitz and make a few big plays. I don't see why he couldn't return to pro bowl form.
