Will McMichael's game finally back up his talk?

He should have more receptions this year as Culpepper historically has made his TE's effective.

ie Wiggins........and I think McMike is 2 times more capable than Wiggins.

I think he will since he actually h as a quaterback that can throw tha ball to him

I think he will be better than the last years. I just don´t think is is ever going to be a "Antonio Gates" or a "Tony Gonzales" because we have too many offensive weapons for all of them to have breakout numbers.

KC and SD both make their TEs primiary targets in their passing attack because they lack superiour talent in their receiving corps.

I'm a big McMichael fan and would like to see more production from him...however, it's not ALL Randy. Last year, for example, he started out playing well (Was our most consistant if not only TD threat in the first 4 games)...then the scheme changed and coaches started keeping him in to block on most plays, not sending him out to catch passes. Some of that was to assist the oline and help the running game... an important part of a complete TE's job, to be sure...but I don't see Gates doing a great deal of blocking.

I think he's improving as a complete player and does a lot to help the team. It's not all about passes and touchdowns.

As was stated above MeMike was on his way to a good year when it became apparent that McNeverBlock and McFalseStart needed help on the Oline. Hopefully HH can deliver enought pass protection with just 5-on-5 blocking.

With out a question McMike is a top 5 TE in this league. He stats tend to fall off because he is busy throwing blocks. Not to mention the fact that he hasn't had a probowl QB that can make the throw to him on a regular basis. This season could and should be the one that he excels in.

Exactly. I remember that in TC, Houck worked with McMichael quite a bit to teach him how to be a true blocker in the leauge. He has really improved his blocking, but he still needs to stay consistant in the passing game. I think we should start seeing McMike's numbers increase since we have Culpepper who likes to do the rollout and throw it to his TE's.

I think this has to be a break out year for McMichael. He has to show that he can be the go to guy in the red zone, and on third down situations. I believe that with a healthy Culpepper or Harrington, they will be able to showcase more of Randy's talents.

We shall see. I'd just like to see a couple of great games out of him and no off-field problems before he starts talking this year.

Top 5? You're crazy. Now, he's improved a lot in the blocking aspect of his game but to call him a top 5 TE is insane.

1. Antonio Gates
2. Tony Gonzalez
3. Jason Witten
4. Shockey
5. Dallas Clark

Now, while some of the people on that list (Clark, especially) might not be as physically gifted as McMichael, they don't fade away as the season goes on. McMichael is all over the place the first two or three weeks but once people start covering him, he disappears. That alone makes him not a top 5 tight end.

He's going to be a lot better this year in the passing game because he won't have to block as much this year. Because of O-line problems last year he was forced to stay in and block but that will change this year due to the upgrades and progression of the O-line. If they can block as well as they have the potential to Mcmike's catches will definately go up. I say he goes somewhere around 65 catches, 800 yrds and 9 TDs.

This thread is begining to sound alot like the way we used to talk about Rob Konrad each offseason. This is going to be his year!!! Wait and see....Wait and see.....wait and see.
