Will Miami sign any of the recently released players?

I think if the price is right Simon is the man if not we should try and get more depth at corner if a solid corner becomes a free agent.

WHOA......hold on.......receivers???? Look at our depth chart there:

Chambers
Booker
Boston
Gilmore

We have 3 of the top receivers in the league.....why do we need more??? All we need is a QB who can throw to them. Chambers is the long ball receiver, Booker is good at short passes, Boston is good at anything, and Gilmore is just a darn good receiver....we dont get rid of Welker cuz he is a perfect return guy. But frankly, we dont need a receiver at all. Id rather get an LB, because Seau is nearing the end of his career. I really think Seau can go another 3-4 years, but when he leaves....does Crowder take his spot? No Crowder is a middle linebacker...and we have Zach...so why did we draft Crowder????
 
I think some of you are missing the point. It all comes down to whats available and if its an upgrade over what we have. Right now the FA market for DBs and OL are very weak, where as DT is a need for us and we have a very good FA interested in playing for us. Lets face it Traylor and Holliday are short term fixes and we could definitely use Simon.
 
Miami should sign Corey Simon just for the fact that our secondary is struggling. I belive that with a better defensive line to stuff the run a rush the passer with more efficiency it will not give the recievers enough time to burn our secondary (Howard).
And by doing that it will help our corners by giving the qb less time to get the ball to the recivers, I think our secondaary is volnurable to the deep ball only. As far as getting a better QB id rather wait til next year to handle that because as our oline gels our qb play will imprve drasticalley. Sign Simon to help secondary and only sign a oline member that will contribut right away, if not let them get familiar with themselves and the quarterback will improve. Sign Simon 1st then secondly get a veteran og/ot then get ur corner and a qb next year
 
Also we better sign him cause traylor and chestor arent gettin younger neither is taylor. Bowens aint that old i belive but that leaves us with roth, wright, and vickerson... very young and very inexperinced when the old men retire or get released were going to need a veteran thats not 40 sign simon and when traylor and holliday leave vickerson and wright will be vets then get rid of simon
 
if we get simon, if our qb is stable this year, i believe that our RB's will lead us to the playoffs
 
Does anyone know how much Simon would have gotten if he accepted the Franchise tag and stayed with Philadelphia? I'm thinking it would have been something like 1 year 5.5 million, just a rough estimate. That's what I think we should offer Corey Simon... a 1 year contract for a little over 5 million or so and see if he really wants to play in Miami and accept it. According to our great friend Clumpy, we are apparently close to 6 million under the cap (and that was no including any cuts and with cuts like Thompson, Zgonina, Chester... that would an extra million or two added on I would think), I think we should offer around 5.5 million of that 6 million+ to Corey Simon for a 1 year contract. I really think it would be a HUGE risk offering a long term deal to him because it could a cap catasrophy for us in the long run and I would like to see how he fits into Saban's defense before any long term agreement should even be considered. He might not accept it and if he doesn't, I think we should move on... but if he does I really don't see how it could hurt us at all only help our defense tremendously right now. That's just my opinion. I don't think we should be giving him a 10 million dollar bonus or any 5 year 30+ million dollar contracts because that will just kill us, especially if he ends up holding out, is a disappointment, or gets injured. I say a 1 year deal with loads of incentives and very generous offer in the 5 million dollar range. That's just my honest opinion of course and if we do get him, I think that would be the idea. Personally though, I feel like we invested a lot in out defensive line and I am perfectly content with it and feel that we are very good the way we are now and have a very bright future.

You ARE kidding right? We drafted him because he was an excellent value in the 3rd round. A top ten talent who went later b/c of concerns about his surgically repaired knees and some off-field incidents.
He can play any LB position, in a 4-3 or 3-4, he is not just a MLB like you say. Crowder has as good of instincts of any LB in the draft and we got him in the 3rd round. As long as he stays healthy, he'll end up being the best pick we made in 2005.
 
With the few surprizes there were in the first round of cuts, there will be even more surprizes in the next and final round of cuts. There will probably even be more surprizes from Miami's cuts not just Perry.
 
I question how good Simon really is, don't get me wrong I know he is good. But here is my point. No team gets rid of a player that is performing up to there contract. They can afford to give him his extension in Philly they just choose not to. Remember how bad philly's run defense was last year before they moved trotter to MLB. I just don't think that he is all he is cracked up to be.
