He'll be interviewing with Tommy Tuberville in the next day or so - per Alabama media.

The Auburn people think he would be a great fit with Tuberville, given his college and SEC background at LSU.

So much for Saban grooming him. :o

I dont think he would leave a NFL DC job for a collage DC job. How would that be an upgrade? Even if he isnt the full DC for us I still think it would be a demotion, he would also get less recognition for future HC jobs if he went to be a collage DC. The only way he would leave for this is if he and Saban have soured over the Capers signing IMO.

It's hard to say. He did express some disappointment last year at not being the full DC. And, you have to think that he's not expecting to become the fulltime DC here. How long will Capers be here? If we do well, he'll probably stay a while b/c he's failed as a head coach twice. That would mean Muschamps is an assistant DC and really has Zero certainty of emerging as one.

At least at Auburn, he gets to run the entire D, and it is likely he'll eventually get a head coaching offer in college. I don't see that as a demotion at all - since he's NOT the DC in Miami. You know Capers is the main guy on the D side of the ball.

That said, it may still not work out with Auburn b/c Tuberville is a defensive coach himself and will be looking for someone who is compatable with his philosophy.

I dont know, If I were him I would want to stay with the Fins even as a partial DC untill I got a HC job in collage. The other possibility is that if he stays and the D does well he could be offered a full DC job by another NFL club.

I imagine that this and Richard Smith leaving means that Dom Capers will probabaly be our DC.

Even if Muschamp stays, Capers is going to be our DC. A technicality is the only reason Capers can't have the title this season. Basicly he is a DC, without the official title.

Oh God Will...

Anyone, ANYONE but Auburn! :barf:

"F" Auburn.

(I don't think Will Muschamp will leave anyway. He's too attached to Saban.)

College, Pro ball??? I think Ill go with pro ball and a nice salary. :)

I look at it like this...Will Muschamp will not leave us, unless Auburn's offer is too good to pass up; which I don't think will happen. He is making very good money as an assistant defensive coordinator for one of the hottest, up an coming teams in the league. Even when Richard Smith and Muschamp shared the d-coord. position; Smith was responsible for designing the scheme every week, while Muschamp called the plays during the game. It is evident right there that he is being groomed to be our d-coord. Everyone knows it will only be a matter of time before Capers is offered a coaching job somewhere and that will leave Muschamp as our d-coord. I think Muschamp knows that, even though his title doesn't say it YET. Right now, he has the chance to learn from a former head coach who has excellent knowledge of the 3-4 scheme; this is something he knows will only make him better. Auburn wants to interview him for a position and Muschamp is going to check it out. It's only right to do so, but that doesn't mean he's going to leave.

I wouldn't be surprised if he left, IMO. Last year, he was upset that he didn't have a title for a while and this is noteworthy because Saban does not like info about staff problems/issues getting leaked out. Furthermore, we don't know what his relationship with Saban is at the present. Muschamp could be irritated with Saban's hiring of Capers. Yes, he may have been told that he was being groomed but with Capers here now, he has no shot of being DC while Capers is around. Muschamp could be upset/mad/offended. Well, that's my conspiracy theory and I'm sticking with it...for today at least. :D

He is our DC, why would you think he's not? The 'advisory' title is so Texans still pay his contract off. If he was our DC in title, he'd forfeit those millions.

Capers as we all know signed a one year deal. And IMO this was so a top 3-4 coach could tutor Muschamp into being our DC next year. If Will accepts the Auburn DC position I'd be more than shocked.
