We have upgraded our GM, our OC (New system), our O-line (Albert! James!), DB's and possibly our running back. We have an exciting player in Landry, with the return of Gibson as well.
All these things I hope will see us in the playoffs this year.
But was it enough? I see Philbin as neutral in the equation of getting to the SB.
In your opinion, does he help or hurt our effort this year?

In the end, its the players that win or lose ball games. I voted "help us".

Hurt us.

I've seen too many mistakes on his part during games over the past 2 seasons to think he's going to help us. He's also not very flexible in offensive philosophy. I like Lazor but I think he's going to be handcuffed somewhat by Philbin's lack of imagination.

I think we Dolphin fans need to temper our expectations for this "new" offense because of Joe Philbin.

This season will shape Philbin and either make or break him. He has shown flashes but also some serious issues that need attention. Specifically failing to have team ready, failure to make game day adjustments, and incessant OCD on laces and litter.

I think we have something he just needs to adapt and adjust and provide some fire to the team as a whole and adjust when needed. Time will tell but I think he has a shortened leash.

Do you think the last 2 games were on the players, or the game prep and hafltime adjustments?

I feel we started this offseason with a lot of up ticks, I'm just wondering with the last 2 games, if Joe is a full sail or an anchor.

Good point, the last 2 seasons will have built him up or tore him down. We'll have to see how he uses the opportunity.

NFL players shouldn't need the head coach to get motivated, they're not kids anymore.
My problem with Philbin was that he didn't intervene when Sherman was clearly screwing up. Maybe it was out of respect but it hurt the team. Hopefully he learned from that and won't hesitate step-in when needed in the future.

Your poll question doesn't match your thread title. Philbin the weakest link? No. Our weakest link will be the LB's.

I'm not sure you can say we upgraded GM without even seeing his players in action. That being said, I do think Philbin is a weak link on this team. I don't have much confidence in him.

The case I am trying to make is that the GM and Lazor upgrade those positions as well as other units of the team. I'd even say that putting Odrick in the middle and letting Ellerbe and Wheeler play outside positions makes the LB corp better. I have no real prob with Coyle or spc teams. So that pretty much leaves the HC. Is he the weakest link in all this? Our LB'S did not lose the last two games by themselves?

I think based on what the Packer players and coaches had to say about him that he helps us, but....

ultimately the last two losses last year are on him, the loss after the bye especially doesn't look good.

I think our next head coach may already be here. If the offense responds to the new OC, he sure looks like an eligible future head coach to me.

He sucks, I am not a fan of him at all. Any coach who lets their OC run the offense the way he did last year and give out the go, go go's and NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, shows how poor of a coach he is. Hopefully hes out this year, promote Lazor!
