You do realize that's not saying much, right?

What has Philbin done to be considered better than JJ, Saban or even Wanny and Sparano? In fact, one could make the case that Philbin is worse than all of then except for Cameron.

When Philbin can manage a playoff season, then people can make a case that he's better than Sparano and Wanny. Until then they can't even be compared

If Philbin is fired this year without making the playoffs, he will have solidified his status as second worst HC since Shula. And people are saying he is the best since Shula? Laughable.

you must not be a Fins fan for very long because Shula and the entire list of coaches behind him have had some epic end of season collapses.

Really? I can't recall with our team having the playoffs on the line...we just have to win one lousy game, and not only can we not do that, but all we can muster is 7 points in 8 quarters, AND it's against Buffalo and NY. No, I don't remember us giving up like that.

Between 1989 and 1999, the Miami Dolphins had five such late season collapses and missed the playoffs in three of them. The worse of those late season collapses came in 1993, the year Marino tore his Achilles heel. The Dolphins started the 1993 season 9-2 but lost the last five games to miss the playoffs due to a worse conference record than the Broncos and Steelers.

Wow! That must have been the. Worst. Coach. Ever. Maybe even the WOAT. Who was it?

Philbin is the best coach we've had since Shula was forced out.
Wow. I seem to recall Jimmy Johnson taking the Dolphins to the playoffs in 1997,1998 and 1999. I don't recall Failbin coaching any post season games in South Florida. Do you? Refresh my memory.

If you seriously think an OL of Albert, Thomas, Brenner, Shelley, and James is better than Martin, Richie, Pouncey, Jerry, and Claybo, then you are going to be in for a big surprise come week one. Our OL is CONSIDERABLY WORSE than it was this time last year, NOT better.

Albert vs. Martin: Upgrade of epic proportions
Thomas vs. Cogs: Unknown. Incognito historically is better, but he did not play well last year.
Brenner vs. Pouncey: A definite downgrade, but it's only temporary until Pouncey heals, Brenner actually played well in Pouncey's absence last year, and it was the couple of games Tannehill didn't do the "Go, Go-Go" thing.
Shelley vs. Jerry: Upgrade
James vs. Clabo: Depends on if we're talking early or late season Clabo. Clabo was the worst right tackle in football for much of the year, but played better late. Overall I think this position is upgraded.

 Shelley won't be the starter, but if something happens that he is it will a HUGE down grade.

My bigger concerns are oline and the lb's. I think oline has the potential to play better and I'm hoping that putting misi inside will help but both are question marks. I'm not a big Phibin fan time will tell though if he doesn't get it done I'd like to see a change next year

Great Post. The offense and Tannehill will make major strides and we will get stuck with a HC that is over his head. I have seen enough of Joe to know he is not HC material.

Agreed Dude. Philbin always was the 2nd choice...
If we don't get to the playoffs this year, homers can suck Joe's dong all they want, but he will be gone. New HC next year, that's my call amigo.
