Was reading this Q & A with Alex Marvez from the Sun-Sentinal. A couple questions down, there's one regarding Will Poole's surgery and his postion. Says he spoke to him, and he's recovered from his injury. He currently projects him as the 4th CB with Allen/Daniels/Goodman in front of him. I was always under the impression that if one CB was to move to saftey, it would be Daniels. He goes into saying that where Allen plays (most likely saftey), will dictate where he ends up.

Do you think Poole makes the transition with Allen at the other saftey spot, and starts ahead of the other players at saftey (Hill/Bell/Tillman/Cooper)?

I don't know....Poole is supposedly very highly touted by the staff, and is fast, with good coverage skills....But for him to be a SS (Allen is gonna be a FS) he needs to tackle better....

I think in Saban's system all 4 DB positions should be interchangeable. We dont play a true FS and SS. He expects both starters at S to be good in coverage and be able to support the run, same with his CBs.

The goal is to have the 4 best DBs on the field at the same time. Some, like Will Allen, have mainly played at CB and others, such as Jason Allen, probably can play all 4 positions. Depending on where Jason Allen gets slotted, the others will fall in place.

That was wanny's staff. Sabans hasn't seen him play in their system yet.

I think Boomer covered this in his thread and said Poole is a CB not a safety, I could be wrong though.

Only thing is he isn't a coach. He was corner for Wanny. Saban and co. might have a differant idea of what suits him best.

True Boomer isn't a coach, but he seemes to really know his stuff.

Out of college, Poole was ranked as the #1/#2 CB graduating. He translates to a CB better and is a LITTLE undersized for your IDEAL safety. Poole also isnt your ideal zone CB. Also remember, he was drafted in the Wanny era. Thats not to say he WONT be changed around..... but I see Poole as a CB and Daniels as a S. Just my opinion.

I agree but in my opinion Daniels was our best cb last year and that was his first year. Teams found out quick that Howard was the one to target and the Rook wasn't having none of their sh**.

Not always. But if you want to take his word as gods thats your right. Everyone is right sometimes and I've seen him be wrong just as much as others.

we really had no good corner last year. travis daniels made a few good plays here n there but was no were near good. madison played good one game and took the other 15 games off. so im lookin forward to will poole really helpin us out.

I agree, Daniels played great at CB last year and was very impressive for a 4th rounder. My logic was stemming from Saban saying he wants the best 4 DBs on the field. Right now, I think Poole, Allen, Allen, and Daniels are our best 4 DBs..... to me, Will Allen is a CB, Poole is a CB, Daniels is a CB/S and Jason Allen is a CB/S. Yeremiah Bell is a S and Reynaldo Hill is a CB/S. Time and where Jason Allen actually plays will tell. On a non-debateable note, im very satisfied with the quality and depth we have as DBs. Before Hill, Allen and Allen, I was pretty worried about our Secondary. Now my concern is back on the SOLB and Oline.
