Will Poole

Just wondering. From what I saw two years ago, this kid can play well, and contribute to our backfield.

Few questions though...

1) How much of a direct impact to our secondary would he have at 100%

2) Estimate how long he will need to develope to cover #1 receivers across the NFL.

I think the Madison Surtain era can be replaced by the Poole n Daniels show.

Agreed?

Will Poole has the ability to be a very good cornerback because of his ball skills and instincts. He has tremendous reaction ability and reads plays very well. He played very well as a rookie last season. Will isn't blessed with tremendous speed, but he's a lot like Surtain in that he tracks the ball well in the air. He gets a great break on the ball on the out patterns. One thing Nick Saban will like about him when he's healthy is his physicality. Will Poole will come up and force the run as well as keeping the receiver in front of him on a short pass. Will could even play some safety in a pinch. He's probably the guy that will slide into the nickle role, whether he is starting or coming off the bench as a nickle back.

I suspect that cornerback and safety will still be very high on the Dolphins draft priority lists next spring though.

Great post. TY

I agree. Expect us to draft a CB high next year. Also daniels may shift to the safety position...

He is the best corner in NCAA... like 6'4 and quick with crazy ball hawking abilities

Both Daniels and Poole would have to bulk up to at least 210-215 to be considered a safety IMO.

It's possible that if Poole were healthy, we'd be discussing whether or not Daniels should be replacing Madison on the other side. Nothing against Sam, just sayin'.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that we'll be bringing in another CB next year, even if it's just to replace Howard, who isn't coming close to earning what we're paying.

poole and daniels could certainly make an impact dont know if i would compare them to madison and surtain tho

Does he have experience there? I'd hate to move him if he is better at CB. But if anyone knows, it will be Saban. I think it speaks a lot for Daniels that Saban drafted him. Wasn't he drafted in the 4th? Seems like another steal just like Poole. Just curious, I know it's hard to say now, but who does everybody think is/ will be better: Poole or Daniels?

i think if sam works with poole and daniels there is a good chance they could be the next madison, surtain or vincent, taylor a few years ago in philly

He played safety at LSU until injuries forced him to move to CB. He was effective in both roles...

Poole is probably better. He has first round talent, but was arrested before the draft and his stock plummeted.

Daniels was drafted well. It helps that he knows the system, so he has a jump on every Rookie CB in the NFL.

I am very excited to see how Poole will play in this improve defense. I thought that he would breakout this year before his injury.

Actually he dropped because of knee injuries.
