Everyone saw how well Sammy ran as a starter last year. The possibility exists that Cam may favor Sammy over Ricky. Ricky may come back as 3rd string....or he could get cut if he doesn't beat out Travis Minor.

Thoughts?

He shouldn't be handed a spot, I mean, he's only played like 10 NFL football games in the last 2 1/2 years.

But it's unlikely that he won't beat them both out for the #2 job.

Let me ask you this Caps, do we keep Ricky, or do we draft a rb in the later rounds and move on?

Coach Cameron will favor no one over another nor should he. The best players will/should start regardless of fan favorites.

That would depend on what Mueller could swing for Ricky in a trade. I wouldn't cut him outright, that's for sure. But if Mueller can entice some team to give up a package of day 2 picks, or future day 1 picks, or whatever, I would pull the trigger and move on. Then draft a 2nd day guy or resign Sammy to be the #2 guy.

Now, if nobody is willing to part with picks, I say we keep him and let him spell Ronnie.

Ricky is hard to place value on. Its not like he tore it up in the CFL. I'm thinking 5-6th round right now. Leaning more to a 6th. He comes with a mountain of baggage.

agreed. He doesnt deserve to just have a spot. He should prove it. But he most likely will have the #2 spot because he is better than sammy.

It's year 3 for Ronnie, he should be a lock as starter... Everything behind him should be up for grabs. If we're able to find some talent in the later rounds of the draft I say we trade Ricky, he should get descent value.

Minor and Morris are both great STer's but we need one more quality back at least as good as Morris. Its all gonna depend on Cam's opinion of Ricky which I think Mueller will definetly have a say on.

I think its the other way around...and Sammy competes against Ricky for the #2

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Ricky deserves a spot and will immediately be the #2 guy, if not the starter. I'm sorry, but Sammy Morris has shown absolutely nothing. You're all forgetting that when Ricky has actually been on the field (I'll concede that it hasn't been that often lately) he is a force to be reckoned with.

They will use the tandem approach that worked so well at the end of 2005

Uh, Sammy Morris is a free agent. He needs to be signed first.

What about the fact that he tore up the NFL in 2005, 03, and 02? Who was the last to do something impressive in the regular season culpepper or ricky? Ricky!

I think that, like in 2005, Ricky will be listed as the #1 FB that way they're both on the field at the same time when the team runs two-back sets. That would very neatly solve the Fins' problems at fullback.
