after seeing video highlights of games, im starting to think our team is best suited for short passes first and then go for the long one. I mean i know linehan has a vertical passingoffense but we 1. probably dont have enough time, 2. gus is always off on long throws, 3. our receivers cant catch them when it is thrown to them,,,
im starting to think we should throw slants and outs more and drive down the field more like that then trying to hit a receiver down field first?? Does anyone agree or am i being ignorant?? lol

It depends what the defense is giving a team. If an opposing team is running pressing I think deep passes are a better option, but if they're laying back playing cover two I would prefer a short passing game.

i dont think the bucs can stay in the cover 2 all game. i think most of our passes will be relatively short, esp. if they get R&R going in the passing game

add in a sucessful rushing attack, and the bucs will have to stop leaving the safties back. then the fins throw deep and gus overthrows it, lol

i think mcmike will have a good day as well. not only does the matchup favor him, imo. but he will be looking to bounce back from his one-catch, penalty performance last week

when the defense is playing tight to the line, throwing short passes plays right into the teeth of the scheme, especially when they show blitz and drop into coverage. the pre/post snap reads have to be on point and your execution has to be flawless to avoid throwing ints because all 11 defenders are already in the confined area you are throwing the ball.

the weakness for a cover 1/cover 3 defense is the vertical passing game. however, if the offense is not a threat to beat you with the deep ball then you have no worries. teams have continued to give us these looks because we have not shown the ability to consistently make them pay. the plays have been there numerous times thus far but gus sucks at throwing an accurate deep ball and needs a moss type reciever to go up and get his "punts."

imo, the most effective offense happens after you have shown a team that if they dont respect the deep ball by backing the safeties off in a variation of cover 2, you will hit em' up for a big play. dbs will then give "cushion" which not only opens up the short passing game, but the running game as well. it works in an opposite manner as well. if a team comes out playing loose coverage, you throw short passes and get the ground game going. then, when they creep up, you throw the home run ball.

Right now I dont think I want to see Gus even try another Deep ball. He's getting way too much air under those things... and he has about ZERO accurracy on them. By the time the ball drops theres 3 DBs standing in front of CC already waiting for it. That, or it lands out of bounds. But hey if we can get a TD pass every game, I'm not gunna complain.:D
