Will the Dolphins be Better or Worse in 2017? | NFL Network

I don't even know why they bother with these segments pre-draft. So many things can happen in the draft, and so many more after teams start getting rid of vets after. While I don't think we've made a night and day overhaul yet, I like where this team stands heading into the draft.

With a solid draft I see this as a potential 10-12 win team if relatively healthy. That schedule is going to be our biggest challenge this season. It looks brutal.

I think the roster has improved. The draft really won't have an impact on our team this season other than 1 maybe 2 players. I believe it will come down to our oft injured players staying healthy and the strength of schedule. We should be able to maintain our win total if those two concerns lean in our favor.

If the Dolphins make the jump that we're hoping for, strength of schedule shouldn't prevent them from making the playoffs. 10-6 should be the floor.

It's not just the strength of the schedule, how the schedule is stacked up plays a part also. Those 3 straight road games can be a killer sometimes, hopefully we won't see any.

True, but I have high standards. :) A perennial playoff team will muscle through it, although a stretch of road games is tough for any team.

I don't think there's any way they go below .500 unless there's an epidemic of injuries like they had in '07.

The only way we can take the AFC East is to make a more physical and tough team. Beef up those trenches and punch them in the mouth. Not likely to outsmart NE more than once.

god that schedule looks tough when you see it actually on a game by game basis and opponent

not that I'm gonna overreact to it cause things are fluid but still...

I am sure you felt similar last year so that's fine lol.

I will say while yes our schedule is daunting we have no idea what will potentially go wrong with those teams before we play them, but every single year there are teams that take a major step back you don't expect. It will be interesting this year see if we can build on last year with that rough schedule.

Agree with this. and we are due for some luck with injuries - there will always be a few but we've been hit pretty hard for awhile now. If crucial guys start going down left and right, things could go south quickly, although i think Gase has shown he can do a decent job mitigating the bleeding

Schedule looks tough but once the season starts we'll which teams live up to the billing still.

Sounds like some of them like Taylor more than Tannehill. Ironically Taylor hasn't won anything either so how that propels him above RT is beyond me.

Glass Half Full:

We have a proper head coach
2nd year of the system - easier offseason / early season to be prepared
Huge injury spate of top players is behind us (for now). Reshad, Pouncey, Howard back is a big deal
Roster is already better than last year before we have the draft.
Draft has quality players in places we have needs. If I was looking for a QB, LT, RT, DT I'd be worried (yes we need a DT but not a starter)
Hayes and Timmons stiffen the woeful run D

Glass Half Empty
Pats have made some big changes which could be beneficial
Bills steadily improving
Schedule looks pretty brutal
Pythagorean theory says we won't win so many close games next year

In short, what we can control we are steadily improving at (with a few tasks still to do in/after the draft). What we can't control looks more challenging than last year, but these things are never as they seem.
