Will the Dolphins put Ricky and Ronnie in the same backfield next season?

If we want to keep our streak going...Hell yeah.. at least thats what i would do. next season and every season after that until they cant produce anymore

I don't know if the thing to look for so much will be both of them in the actual backfield, but rather both of them on the field at the same time. Ronnie displayed some ability at Auburn to split out wide and make catches running deep downfield (Bill B even mentioned this in the run up to the first NE game), and with a full training camp this time around hopefully Ronnie's skills as a receiver can be developed and worked into the gameplan more.

Of course they could put in a flexbone package with Ronnie, Ricky, and Sammie Morris, but I guess this isnt college and it would probably fail miserably :D

I don't think they will both be here, and I think Ricky could be used to either move up in the draft or get more draft picks. I have been looking over the mock drafts, and I could see us trading Ricky to move up from 16 to 10 and grab Cutler and hopefully have a franchise qb for years. the draftvalue to move up from pick 16 to pick 10 is about 300 pts which translates into a low 2nd rd pick/high 3rd pick. I think it is an option, but only time will tell!!!

Not if we get a "killer" trade offer for Ricky...

Man I hope not. I wanna see ricky run for the fins again. Man I can't wait for the draft. This ricky trade talk is driving me crazy. But I better get used to it.

...which probably won't happen, give his uncertainty for the future.

Yes. Ricky and Ronnie return next season and continue to dominate in the backfield and rush for close to 2000 yards collectively next season. R&R Express lives on! :beerbang:

I think that Linehan had to abandon this idea this year because Gus was struggling so much in the early and mid season time frame. As well, the OL was rather inconsistent early, particularly in run blocking. As the season got to the last 6 games, things were clicking with what we had so he didn't expand the playbook. If a decision on Linehan staying and if a decision on QB is established early in the offseason, and if RW isn't dangled for trade bait, yeah, we'll see some funky lineups, Brown split out, RW split out, etc...but you'd have to think that they must put some packages in that can confuse the D a little and utilize both together.

I hope so, they will be awesome together. And if one gets injured you have the other one to pick up the slack

Ricky barely takes any cap room on his salary. I think they will. But if Ricky doesn't stay and he is traded for a draft pick (mind you, a first day pick), then look for one of our other running backs to fill the void (preferably Kay-Jay Harris or Sammy Morris).

who knows but i sure do look forward to reading this exact thread 10 f'n trillion times before the next season starts

Of course, if we get Mcnair or Carr, all bets are off. I think Saban will draft a DB or LB in the draft in first round unless Cutler stays down in first round, but like i said, If we sign Mcnair, why would anyone think we will draft a QB in the first round at that point? I dont think Saban moves up in the first round at all. Ricky alone would not get that and he doesnt like to give up all his prime picks.
