Will the fan base have the patience of this building process?

I would think that Tannehill should be given 3 years of starter experience before we really judge. but the henne experience proved that you can tell if a guy has it after just one year of starting. I mean do any of us really see gabbert as being a good qb anywhere down the line?

Gabbert is awful. Chad Henne will be starting by week 8.

Dude, Drew Brees? A lot of quarterbacks develop significantly with alot more years than that

the question wasn't if it was going to take tannehill years to be good, the question was, will this fanbase be patient enough to allow him to be developed? and the right answer is... tannehill better be ready to show us something by the end of his 3 year. if It ain't there, and the wins aren't there... he's only going to get 3 years.

So, I mean, at what point do you guys get tired of rebuilding? I feel like the fanbase around here is just f'ing tired of it and I sympathize. Owners change, GMs and coaches are changed, QBs are chewed up and spit out every couple years, countless players come and go and still... we're lucky to see consistent mediocrity. You'd think by just dumb luck we would figure something out eventually. Lets hope this time, these coaches, these players, are the ones to do it. But forgive us if we dont have a lot of patience left.

Will the fan base have the patience to give him a few years time to truly build a contender?

Probably not.

What we really need is Matt Moore to play well so that there is no pressure to start Tennehill prematurely. Tannehill should be holding a clipboard for at least a year, maybe 2 imo.

Tannehill should be given 3 years. Jeff Ireland however, should not. It's been 5 years already. **** or get off the pot.

I don't see what we accomplish by starting Moore for more than half the year unless we unexpectedly are competing for the playoffs. I want to see Tannehill for at least 5-7 games if we are out of the playoffs. I think real game experience would be huge in his development and I fully expect the #8 pick in the draft to be starting opening day 2013. Any longer and I view that as a horrible reach at 8 as there are host of long term "development" guys you find in the rounds 3-7 that you expect to sit muliple years. I'm confident the FO and owner have to feel the same way. I can't imagine what the season ticket sales will look like if we are lining up Matt Moore to start 2013.

The Miami fanbase has not patience whatsoever. As such, I think its a bad idea to put Tannehill and "learn on the field" because the fanbase will eat him alive if he doesn't come out like Marino. Let Tannehill sit and learn from the sidelines and focus on his mechanics in practice for at least a year.

Miami hasn't won a Super Bowl in 38 years, hasn't gotten to a Super Bowl in 27 years, hasn't played in an AFC championship in 20 years, hasn't won a second-round playoff game in 20 years, and hasn't won a playoff game of any kind in 12 years. The team has had as many losing seasons since 2003 as it had in the entire history of the team until that point. News flash-- the only Dolphins fans left are the patient ones (and the masochists, I suppose). Everyone else bailed out a long time ago.

You have to start Tannehill now IMO.
If you have a franchise guy sure you would sit him.
I think it is trial by fire here folks.
