Will the NFL still exist in 30 years

ahh, Im in the Army and Im in a unit where you need to have some hair on your balls in order to make it. It builds commodery and it builds a strong bond between guys that need to have that cohesion. We are a team, we talk to eachother like this all the time... but I can tell you one thing... while Im not saying people dont deserve respect, because they do of course, in all walks of life... respect is not given, you have to earn it. And the best way to do that is to do your job and do it well... basically handle your business. We cannot stand what they are doing to the Army with these damn guidelines. There are some sections of the Army that just need to be rough neck kick ass units... thats how we stay the best most kick ass army in the world. But i can tell you one thing, we will loses that status if things keep going in the direction they are going. I could get into a whole lot of things on this subject from all the way to the top to down in the sand, but it's basically they same thing in footbal, they are a unit, and they need to be able to trust eachother to be able to do their job... it's obvious Martin couldnt do his job and he couldn't handle it. it's only natural to weed out the weak... we are mammals for Christ sake... I suppose we should take out the male lion just because he is the king of the jungle so other non dominant lions can have a chance at the females...
Your talking the security of the nation versus entertainment. I understand your thoughts on the military as the USMC has changed drastically since I joined in 1983. But it's not comparable.

He's "independent" but he was hired by the NFL. He's a lawyer. Hired to investigate. He is there to minimize his client's liability.

The league is already turning on Jon Martin in subtle ways. See this article on NFL.com: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...-martin-voted-incognito-to-leadership-council

NFL and NFLPA will unite to bury Martin.
The Spygate and Bountygate investigation was conducted by the league. It's not Martin or Incognito I am concerned with.

In the case of bountygate, it was personal. The Saints lied to Roger Goodell and tried to obstruct him.

In the case of spygate, the league shielded the **** out of the Patriots.

i knew someone was going to say that but im not talking about the job itself, im talking about the traditions, the tactic's. basically, the things that make a team, a team. You have to have cohesion in your unit... you know that being in the Marines, especially back then. And you know that any threat to the cohesion on your team is dealt with... and not always with violence or "bullying" might i add, but it is dealt with.

Well I disagree with your take on the army but i respect your opinion. Im definately not in some POG unit but I find silly hazing games to be counterproductive and never once have engaged in such behavior yet I have trained many a successful soldier. Having a lack of disicpline is not soldiering in my book but we all have opinions. The King of the jungle in the army is not determined by who is the biggest jackazz of the group its by who studies the hardest , who prepares the hardest, who just has the fortitude to make it. Neither InCognito or Martin would make good soldiers. Neither would have the discipline or heart to make it. Ritchie would have the heart but not the head or discipline. Martin probably ot the head or the heart.

Yes..Football is to rough and physical...

Finheaven the past few days has been an extremely interesting and valuable case study. I'll make this post and then leave the topic, because have been too many political wanderings on the main forum.

For more than I decade I've wondered about the tactics of a certain network, one I seldom watch: Take every issue to the absolute extreme and beyond, with preposterous exaggerations, and make sure your audience is terrified. Sound familiar? Look around. That's exactly what has happened here, culminating with this thread. Am I really allowed to wager on whether the NFL will exist in 100 years, let alone 30? Granted, I may have trouble collecting, in either case.

Thanks to Finheaven I can now understand the other side with far greater clarity. The exaggeration and fear works swell internally, tightening the clan and pushing everyone further to the extreme. But it looks ridiculous to an outsider. There is no threat of expanding the ranks. Breed fear. You won't have many cases of willing adoption or transfer.

Lawyers and the courts will end the game.

Awsi, I'm not a conservative. I'm not Fox News. I'm also not some liberal slurper.

I like to take information, look at trends, and try to see how they may end up in the future. I am an avid reader of classic sci-fi for this very reason. They look at the data of the day, the issues of the day, the trends in society and try to apply it to a future vision.

I am just looking at all the safety issues, and the regulations, and the stifling nature of corporatism on this game, and I see future that has no need for this game. If to exists, it will be in a far different form.

I am not even making judgements on whether that is good or bad, it is what it is. I just felt it was a topic worth exploring and I am always interested in seeing all perspectives on a given topic.

the sissification of the game is definitely in progress already...hell though it's not just a football problem...it's a country problem...we are raising a generation of sissies...

sucks

This can't be said enough. When I was growing up I never thought this possible. It's like we woke up one day and here we were.

Not for leather helmets. I would never pay 10,000 for a meal. I'm not a Conservative or a Republican. Didnt mention race.

Just feel we've gotten softer in my short lifetime (32 years) for the worse. Just an observation
