This isn't about whether they should or should not - but your prediction as to whether they will.

And upgrade refers to adding a clearly talented player to fill a #1 role (e.g. an established name, or a 1st round type talent in the draft).

No reason to at this point. As long as we stay with a QB that is limited in the ways Pennington is, there is no reason to burn money or picks on a star WR.

Why should we? What reason is there? We need to use the picks for D and OLine.

Well, Penny's probably not the starter next season. Think they'll keep the same WR corps for Henne?

Dunno. WR isn't a position I really judge well. I've never ran a route tree, and, don't really know all the things that make a WR great.

They may. The Trifecta drafted them specificly for Pennington? I don't think so.

the front office will upgrade what it has to, the team is in good hands

The problem with the guys we have on the roster at the moment is that none of them are elusive with the ball in their hands. With a QB like Penny who is accurate on short to intermediate routes, you ideally want guys who run crisp routes, with good hands and can brake tackles. Cam and Bess tick the first two boxes, but dont really have the explosiveness as an Anquan Boldin or Greg Jennings to break a tackle and pick up good yardage after the catch.

I doubt they do anything drastic. I mean the front office thought that the office needed a wildcat QB in the 2nd round more than a wide receiver so clearly that position isn't at the top of their to-do list.

I understand your point and before Monday night I would have agreed with you. But maybe Ginn's drop in the endzone on Monday might have been the slap in the face they needed to make them realise we need a legit number 1 receiver.

I dont want to turn this onto Ginn, but when your number 1 receiver is not bringing down important catches, something needs to be done.

We have to figure out if this is a team that will compete next year or 2/3 years from now. If we think it's sooner then trading for Marshall or Boldin would make the most sense. If we're still a couple years away we can draft again next year and hope Hartline, Turner and Ginn become stronger as a unit.

A big part of that is knowing if Penny is the man or not, if so then get people around according to his strengths, if not then Henne needs to start and let us know if he can be the answer.

This FO hasn't really been one to give up draft picks unless the value is real high like the Fergy, Fasano,Akin type deals which means mid round picks. So I really don't see a trade in our future and I bet we stick with what we have.

Especially when you look at past drafts,

2008 - OL,DE,QB,DE,OL,RB,OL,RB,DT
2009 - CB,QB,CB,WR,WR,TE,S,OL,OLB

I can see 2010 - ILB,OLB,OLB,DT,DT,OL,QB if need be.
