i really think that this will be our most explosive offense since the great don shula was here...dan marino, bernie parmalee, .o.j. mcduffie, irving fryar, mark ingram, keith jackson, keith byars and terry kirby...that was when our phiosophy was to score points...then j.j. and wanny had that philosophy of have a great defense and run the football...but that philosophy does not give you any margin for error...saban has said his philosophy on offense is to be aggresive...with linehan, all you had to do was go watch a viking game over the last 3 years...now granted we dont have marino or culpepper for that matter but we have a lot of playmakers: chambers, booker and boston, ronnie brown and maybe ricky and mcmichael....my point is we are not going to be conservative on offense...we will score points this year!!!

If Feeley throws for 5000+ and almost 50tds we will be catching up on a great Shula year.

And just as our O is taking off, our core D begins to falter and age. Welcome to the NFL.

That's not just a thow away line, those qbs had big part in making those offenses explosive. That's too high of an expectation for Ferrotte/Feeley, lets start by conentrating on constantly moving the ball for first downs and have positive offensive possesions

That is true. However, I think Saban is going to try to end that curse and it shows by him drafting Roth, Crowder and Daniels. All three have a good chance of starting within the next three years.

If Saban pulls four eventual starters out of this draft that's almost as many as Wanny pulled in his entire tenure......

It sure has potential to be an explosive offense, but this team has had potential for 5 years. Hopefully Saban = fullfillment.

I would hope Roth and Crowder are starting by next year, anyway.

As to the O, it's been quietly developed over the Wanny period. As Bates stated at his last post game PC, it's the D that's needing some help; apparently, Saban agreed and he's taking care of that.

On paper, with all the coaching additions included, this is shaping up as the best offseason, ever. Of course, the Redskins have all star offseasons every year and it hasn't helped them much.

we have already begun to rebuild our D. if we get some solid young DTs in next years draft, we will have a nice mix of youth at the DT, LB, and CB positions

I'm through being overly optimistic about the phins. Last year was a rude awakening for me and my rose colored glasses. With those glasses on I would say we may have the best WR core in the league, along with the best 1-2 punch at RB in the league. Now I look at it as this:

Chambers: very good, but will never be great.
Booker: good number 2, again not great.
Thompson: has this guy done anything but disappoint?
Boston: Talk to me when he plays a down.
Brown: Just a rook
RW: playing just for money, no passion.
Feeley: interception machine, growth stunted by DW.
Frerotte: retread deluxe.

That's how I look at things after last seasons debacle. Still with the coaching, I think we can contend for a playoff spot. But an explosive offense? There is no past evidence with these players to suggest that.

How do u know?Playing with wanny offense and Fiedler even Moss would be JUST very good. He might be great, or not. Now we shall see.

A VERY good number 2.

whatever, cut him I nobody will miss him.

And if he plays? You're saying like no matter what, he'll never play for us.

JUST A ROOK? c'mon, the guy was rated as the best back at the whole draft, a Number 2 pick.

I'd rather ricky with no passion as my backup than any other backup at this league with passion.

Who knows..I honestly don't know what I would bet about feeley for this year, though we gotta admit the guy did not have a fair shot last year. Nobody would with that line and backfield.

Good backup.

And I'm not even being optmistic, just realistic.

We never had the coaching.

oh and thompson is just slow but dont forget he did win the NE game last year and he had the only TD catch in the browns game i think hes good but just to slow

Now I'll put my rosy glasses back on.
Chambers-star ready to break out under new offensive system.
Booker-ready to contribute mightily after transition from Chicago
Thompson-ready for new offensive system as well. Grew up against NE on Monday night.
Boston-Completely healthy and ready to unleash on the field.
Brown-Super rook who can do it all
RW-Simply the best back in the league when motivated.
Feeley-Ready to flourish with different OC and weapons around him.
Frerotte-great pick up who knows system and is capable of starting.
