we have the two worst corner backs out of 98 rated versus yards per catch

Smith has allowed 12 receptions for 270 yards-avg 22.5 yrds per catch

Davis has allowed 12 receptions for 269 yards-avg 22.4 yards per catch

Akin is also last out of 53 inside LBs allowing 8 receptions for
156 yards -avg 19.5 yards per catch

Now I realize the saftey lack of help is a huge factor with these numbers...

When QBs throw to Akins area there qb rating is 155.8
When QBs throw to Crowders area there rating is 121.5

It's more than just corner backs
the main problem is lack of safety help and inside linebackers with concrete feet in pass coverage

I agree weak safety and middle-linebacker passing coverage have been our biggest issues. I don't know how we could allow opposing tight-ends to consistently have monster games against us. Our coaching staff hasn't helped our defense take away the middle of the field. There have been way too many plays where some receiver catches a 20 yard pass in what appears to be a wide open center field.

I would also add our rookie corners have already faced some of the best receivers and tight-ends in the league. They got burned too many times by them, but they are the best in the league. They've already mtched up against Ryan/Roddy White + Tony Gonzalez, Manning/Reggie Wayne + Dallas Clark, Rivers + company, Brees/Colston, and a re-energized Braylon Edwards.

I would like to see another cb next year and the exit of Will Allen; who I think has been our most dissappointing cb if we're going to pick on cornerback play. But I think we need to focus more on getting a better fs and mlb.

If we could get some phucking pass rush and some help from the LB's in coverage maybe those numbers for the cB's would be different.

I have mixed feeling on this but after further review we may just need only 1 more safety and 1 more cornerback and let these guys develope.

It tells me we need some ****ing safeties who can help with coverage. Although today Davis went for the big play today and a 10 yard play turned into 50+.
