Welker is nothing special. I fail to see anything but positive if losing him means getting a 2nd round pick in return. For a guy who was an undrafted free agent and who cost us zip to get in the first place.
Funny how the only guy that has consistently bailed us out year after year with great field position and clutch catches is thrown to the curb like yesterday's trash.
People act like there's another one on the scrap heap we can pick up, plug in and not miss a beat. Yet, in his tenure, Welker was one of the most effective players we had. Better than Chambers, Booker and McMichael. Yet, Chambers keeps getting free passes as if he's "just waiting to be great" and it's just a "matter of time".
The problem with Welker is we never had anything invested in him and no one appreciated him because of it.
Pray tell... he'll have a massive game against us as the Pats always use ex-Dolphins against us in such a way to make them the reason they win against us. Heath Evans anyone....
Mark my words.... Welker will have huge games against us.
He wasn't appreciated when here... and he'll be cursed as a Dolphin killer for years to come. There will be a lesson to be learned over this.
quoted for truth!
i said basically the same thing in the other welker threads.
LETTING WES GO WILL MEAN WE WILL LOSE AT LEAST 1 NEW ENGLAND GAME NEXT YEAR! it will happen because wes will singlehandedly keep a drive going with a 3rd down reception or take a punt return to the house.
If we let Wes Welker beat us, then we deserve to lose. How many games did Wes win for the Fins this year? The guy scored 1 time. Give me a break bro.
How do you know we are going to have 2 more losing seasons? Who forecasts this stuff? Look at the Jets last year, I bet all their fans were saying the same thing some of our fans are saying now.
Secondly, what's with this love fest for Wes? One of you said his return skills alone are worth the money. What return skills are you talking about? He never produced a TD on a return and very rarely took a return over 20 yards. Sure he was consistant, but consistantly average. He also caught 1 TD last year and had fewer yards than Chambers and Booker on more catches. All this means is that Wes was open underneath for short yardage that was usually uncontested. Don't get me wrong, I love Wes, but some of you guys crying about us not throwing truckloads of money at him is ridiculous. Getting a 2nd round pick for him was huge. Maybe we can trade up to get Quinn now if that's what it's going to take. All in all, a 2nd rounder for Welker makes us a better football team.
After seeing what is happening, do you think Taylor and Thomas will retire ? It looks like at least 2 more losing seasons.

he only scored 1 time, but he did everything for us. field position on returns, key 3rd down catches, and everything else he did.
we would be 3-13 if we didnt have wes last year, if not worse. wes welker is the man.
Amen. People are just blinded to the truth because of how much of a scrappy overachiever Welker has been. He is the type of player that is always going to be a fan favorite, but gets overrated because of it.
There is not one thing he does that is decidedly above average. His returns are ok, but definitely nothing irreplaceable. He is absolutely not a gamebreaker. As a receiver, he is adequate as a 3rd option. Not anything great, but adequate. Is a guy who can get open when no one is really covering him closely on 3rd downs to catch underneath passes really worth more than 30 million dollars?
