DAVIE — So we're down to bladder-control jokes with Vontae Davis. Like it's kindergarten. Which maybe it is with him.
Davis is as good a cornerback as the Dolphins ever had and as big a talent as this current team has. But today's question is whether publicly televised humiliation makes him grow up in a manner years of various embarrassments didn't.
Being passed by teams in the draft didn't. Arriving out of shape a year ago didn't. Getting torched by Tom Brady in the 2011 opener, then injured because his body wasn't ready, didn't.

Coming drunk to practice, called out by teammate Brandon Marshall (of all people) and suspended for a game by coach Tony Sparano didn't push Davis down the road of straight and motivated, either.
So now kindergarten is in.

just posted a thread about this exact subject and im sorry to say no i never think he will grow up

His brother had similar issues out in San Fran and he eventually "got it" so there's a precedent. The better question however, is will he ever be able to speak unlike the 5-year-old he currently sounds like.

This. Vernon was a cancer on the verge of getting cut. He had WAY more issues than Vontae. It took Mike Singletary sending him to the locker room in the middle of a game and then ranting after how he didn't want players like Vernon on his team. So it took Vernon getting embarrassed on a national scale to turn his act around.

If Vontae takes a page out of his brothers book and uses this embarrassment to make himself better, than good for him. I for one don't believe Vontae get's it. I hope he does, because he could take this team to another level IF he ever plays up to his potential. Some guys eventual mature into a true professional; Vontae has these same issues since his college day's, which gives me serious doubt about him. IMO he'll never be Troy Vincent or Sam Madison, if he keeps this up.

Stupid is as stupid does! How do you grow up from stupid. Good lord gave him the physical gift to play football......just forgot the mental part.

It'd be funny if Hard Knocks finds out Vontae's bladder is fine, then discover he's a chronic masturbater.

Now that would be MUST WATCH TV.

Guess you just started becoming a fan as of 2009. I remember guys named Sam Madison and Pat Surtain (as of recently) that would leave Davis in the dust at the cornerback position. Davis isnt anywhere near these guys league. He could be, but he chooses not to be.

Well guess we know who "The Village Idiot" is this preseason!
