I'm serious... What the???? We need to either start playing him or start terminating his contract, because are we seriously paying #16 overall money to a "Special teams Ace" ???

What the hell has the coaching staff been doing with him???

I'm not a j.allen hater I actually think he's a solid tackler and makes plays whenever I see him in there. He played quite a bit in 2007.. got 62 tackles, 3 picks, 3 PD, 1 FF.... not a bad year for a FS, ... but in 2008 sparano barely used him and he was only a backup. I think we need to start him at FS and see what happens at least for a few games..

They have been slowly increasing his playing time on the field. Personally I like what I have seen from him when he comes in on defense. He is excellent on special teams also.

What's the point in cutting him? The little bit of money it would save wouldnt be worth it because he is a valuable special teamer and not a terrible back-up.

I don't see how the extra money wouldn't be worth it... we have other players already with the team for cheaper who can make the special teams tackle (cobbs, hilliard if we needed him.)

I just wanna see us playing him more in the secondary to see if he's going to be worth keeping around (at a lower price obv)

Personally I think he needs to see the field a LOT more. JA is a gamer, and he's a ball hawk. He can obviously tackle since he's a special teams ace, so why not put him at free safety to replace the gerbil. I guarantee JA wouldn't miss as many tackles as that rodent.

We need all the special teamers we can get and its obvious Allen can't cut it in the starting unit. It's not a coincidence that Saban, Cameron, and Sparano didn't give him much playing time on the 1st unit.

dude is first or almost first to the ballcarrier on every kickoff or punt return.

he did get a lot of playing time in 2007 though and had 62 tackles 3 int, 3 PD, and 1 FF.... for a free safety those are starter type numbers.. especially considering how bad the rest of the secondary was around him with T.Daniels and uhh Cameron Worrell both starting...

I like him as a special teamers but that's about it. He did OK when forced into the lineup but there's got to be a good reason why he isn't getting playing time. I'm not impressed by Culver or Wilson though so maybe by the end of the year we'll get to see what Clemons has.

I agree, he just needs to be in the game, and get more game experience, i think he can be better for us then wilson. Wison can't tackle or cover, Allan can, and he just needs to be out there in the game.

Well since Jason Allen got undressed I believe last year by Randy Moss and Company they have been keeping him under wraps. Now he did break his hand in that game also but I also think he may have lost whatever confidence he every had.
Most of the comments made on this forum are that he cannot cover that well because he does not mentally grasp his position.
I do know that he has been nicked up since we drafted him at what ever position they have played him which has to certainly curtail any development.
Of course that was his MO coming out of college I beleive he had hip and shoulder surgeries in college. For that reason alone I would have a very hard time drafting anyone in the first round. IMO from watching the Dolphins draft picks in the past my opinion is if they are injury prone in college they almost certainly will be in the NFL. I would have a very hard time drafting a guy in the 1st round anyway.
