I wasn't really sure how that worked and wondered if someone could explain how our draft position would be handled. Will we be switching up each round with the other 9-7 teams or will we be 1st out of all of them every round?

If i'm correct, then discounting trades and such, we will pick at the #16 spot in each round... again, i'm not accounting for any trades we may make or other 9-7 teams may make... but our #16 spot is solid through each round, trades not withstanding.. now, if we have any extra picks due to trades, obviously we'll assume the draft position of that team we traded with..

Then why did we have to alternate each round in last year's draft with 4-12 Cleveland?

YES!

I believe we pick:

Rd 1=16
Rd 2=17
Rd 3=18
Rd 4=19
Rd 5=16
Rd 6=17
Rd 7=18

I think there are only 7 rounds but you get the jist. And I am not sure if we own all of our original draft picks in its entirety. Some of these listed may belong to another team now. And we may have another teams picks somewhere as well. Not certain how many picks we have total this year to be honest with you. I believe there are only 4 teams 9-7. So this may not be perfect. Reader beware. Not responsible for typographical errors. No warranty is implied. Please note the number listed is the order of our pick in that particular round, not an overall draft position number.

I thought we would have to alternate too but wasn't certain if that applied to all teams with matching win/loss records or if it was for every round.

I never realized that!

I'm pretty sure you do not alternate.
It goes on weakness of schedule.

NFL Team: Miami Dolphins 2005 Picks
ROUND PK(OVR) NOTES
1 2 (2) 4-12
2 14 (46) from Kansas City
3 6 (70) from Chicago
4 3 (104) 4-12
5 26 (162) from Green Bay through Kansas City
7 2 (216) 4-12
From espn.com

i think its safe to say that this is accurate.

I think its that once you pick at the head of the queue, you then goto the back of the group. This would mean us picking last out of the 9-7 teams in the second round. I'll go find something to back that up, brb :)

Yep this definately it, i'm afraid.

Last year Chicago was in a 4 way tie at 5-11 but on sos, picked first in the group at no.4. In the second round though they picked at no.7, followed by no.6 in the third, and so on (that no.6 in the third was the one they traded to us, we got Crowder at that spot :) )

Hmmmmm... I thought this only happened in fantasy football! You learn something new every day!!!

Yes, we rotate with the other 9-7 teams but it is NOT

Rd 1=16
Rd 2=17
Rd 3=18
Rd 4=19
Rd 5=16
Rd 6=17
Rd 7=18

That's the wrong rotation. The team that picks first amongst teams with the same record picks last amongst those teams the following round & moves up one slot at a time for each subsequent pick.

Rd 1=16
Rd 2=19 (51 overall)
Rd 3=18 (82 overall)
Rd 4=17 (yet to be determined because of compensation picks)
Rd 5=16 (Manny Wright, yet to be determined because of compensation picks)
Rd 6=19 (Chargers pick, yet to be determined because of compensation picks)
Rd 7=18 (yet to be determined because of compensation picks)
