AP reports Dolphins RB Ricky Williams' appeal of a positive drug test has been set for early April, according to a source. Williams is expected to attend the hearing in New York, along with his attorney David Cornwell. Williams, who was scheduled to return Sunday to the United States after spending time in India, tested positive for an unknown substance that sources have said is not marijuana. The positive test, the fourth for Williams, could result in him being suspended for the entire 2006 season if the appeal is not successful.
This could be good news for us in that Ricky would be either cleared or gone for the year by the time the draft rolls around, and thus would make our decision on draft day to either find a backup to Ronnie Brown or know that Williams is available for this season easier to make. Can you imagine if Ricky was not available for this year and Lendale White was sitting there at #16 for us to grab. Common sense would say no deal which I agree with, but the thought in fantasy world of having two young running backs like Brown and White who are both a load at 230+ would be fun to think about.
