AP reports Dolphins RB Ricky Williams' appeal of a positive drug test has been set for early April, according to a source. Williams is expected to attend the hearing in New York, along with his attorney David Cornwell. Williams, who was scheduled to return Sunday to the United States after spending time in India, tested positive for an unknown substance that sources have said is not marijuana. The positive test, the fourth for Williams, could result in him being suspended for the entire 2006 season if the appeal is not successful.

This could be good news for us in that Ricky would be either cleared or gone for the year by the time the draft rolls around, and thus would make our decision on draft day to either find a backup to Ronnie Brown or know that Williams is available for this season easier to make. Can you imagine if Ricky was not available for this year and Lendale White was sitting there at #16 for us to grab. Common sense would say no deal which I agree with, but the thought in fantasy world of having two young running backs like Brown and White who are both a load at 230+ would be fun to think about.

So please lets not post a thread on this 3 days from now?

Before the appeal, i bet they test him again. If they do, I bet it would only soldify his case even more if found to be the same substance or nothing at all. I think it would be a travesty to keep a talent out of football for some stupid *** herb that is in no way close to being illegal or even threatening.

i would rather have two weapons instead of one. Settle down.

what we have or had is a luxury....Who was Shaun LAexander's backup last year??? Maurice Morrice...and Edge?? Rhodes

now you tell me why we need to spend a 1st rd pick this yr on a RB when we just got ourselves our true franchise RB...rONNIE bROWN IS THE REAL DEAL.....HAVE FAITH IN THE GUY AND BUILD AROUND HIM.....spend that 1st round pick on justice so that he can open holes for Brown.....We dont need Lendale White...get real man...ur a joke

I want RW back and would be mad if he is suspended but I guarantee you Saban aint gonna waste our 1st or 3rd rd pick this year ona Rb when we still have needs

I agree with finfan54 will will be fine without Ricky williams but with him we got 2 weapons in the backfield so its not like we dont have faith in ronnie but 2 weapons will make us more dangerous.

ill settle down just dont make ridiculous comments...only thing that would hurt if we lose ricky is pounding the ball with him in the 4th quarter

Ricky Williams will be back with us and able to play...We dont need a RB and if we do, I like kay-jay. And why trade Ricky? look at the price he is playing for

the news here is that we will know about Ricky one way or another before the draft-anyone who's been paying attention knows Nick isn't done yet, so let's wait to see what we need before we whine about the draft

Independently of if we want it or not, have it in our backfield sharing time with Ronnie it does us more dangerous and powerful. That's a reality.

And that is no small thing.

Please note that in my post I made the statement about in fantasy world (not fantasy drafts either) it would be nice to have both, but we have way too many other needs to address to pick up another running back that high in the draft. I really like Ronnie Brown and saw him in person in college, and I think whoever gets White is going to get a very good back who will very good in the red zone and in 3rd and short situations.

Ricky`s not going anywhere, we`re not able to get anything of value for him because of the strikes he already has. And besides, while Brown is a good, young back, Ricky`s the best back on our roster. Get an O-lineman with that first round pick.
